3M Packing Tape, Clear, 3-roll pack

I’m not a big fan of 3M packing tape, it’s really thick tape (high quality, I guess?) but that makes it a little stiff and fussy to work with. I like the cheap thin stuff, I find wrangling it onto a box much quicker. I bought a BUNCH of 3M on here at least 7 years ago, might be 10, and I’m still unahappily working my way throught it. previous to that I had a bunch of Uline which I really liked.

I usually tear the thin stuff trying to use it :man_shrugging:

I’m giving this a go. I use the hell out of packing tape, but…

DAYUM! 50 per limit!? What did you do, Woot? Buy out the factory!?

I like the thicker tape. It’s not so floppy so it doesn’t flop over and stick to itself. It feels like a luxury good, but see what you think.

3M Packing Tape, Clear, 3-roll pack - $6.99 - Free shipping for Prime members

For comparison purposes only…

The same item available from the mothership: $13.53

It costs more than my $2 limit.

This deal is the best one. It comes out to $0.05 per yard for the 6 pack on Amazon Mothership. The Woot deal tape comes out to $0.12 per yard which is over double the price per yard. But it’s also a crap ton of tape, haha. I think it would take me several years to go through that much and I sell items online off and on. I don’t know if I’m ready to dump my money into long term 3M packing tape investments

We also prefer the thicker “heavy duty” packing tape.

For the reasons already stated, plus it has a much better adhesive than the cheaper, thinner tape.

Many times, I have sealed a box with the thin tape, only to have the tape lift up from the box after a few minutes.

Ditto.
When I worked in inventory control / shipping & receiving during college 40 years ago I could go through six rolls of packing tape in a week or so, now its a (much shorter ) lifetime supply…

I did snag one of the Woot 3-pack offers though, so I am set for quite a while and sitting pretty…

Hard to believe there is serious conversation occurring about $7 ??? Geez, just do it, or just don’t, but don’t debate the price on this one. It’s not $699 - it’s $6.99…

Wasn’t this $3.99 a couple of days ago? I added it to my cart and now the price has gone up?

Not to my knowledge. I’ve only seen it here at the $6.99 price this past week.

Uline, Grainger or WB all have good quality products definitely including tape comparable to Staples at a much better price usually.

We prefer the “Heavy Duty” version (this deal) of this 3M packing tape as well. The thin stuff can’t handle putting much tension on it when taping before tearing and as others have said, it tends to curl and stick to itself more readily.

Gotta watch the standard vs heavy duty versions of 3M packing tape when pricing it out. Costco Business Centers sell both. But regular Costcos and Sams (around us at least) sell only the heavy duty version. For reference, when they have it on sale, comes to about 5 cents a yard vs this 7 cents deal (Edit: Current Costco sale = 4 cents/yard). But you gotta buy 6 (Sams) or 8 (Costco - typical Costco massive overload size!) rolls. So for average households, this seems like a solid deal.

I got mine and they are 54.6 yd rolls so that makes the Woot! deal $0.04 per yard. If you zoom in on the picture it shows that they are 54.6 yd rolls and the review link goes to a different three pack that is only 38.2 yd rolls. It turned out to be a good deal for me.

I too received the 54.6 YD rolls, but the accompanying packing slip lists the smaller 38.2 YD rolls.

3M Company TV205153 Tape, Clear, 3 roll pack
ASIN B007XZX6TM

The same item as the Woot Deal listing, but different pics.

Must be that someone pulled the wrong item or it’s a substitution. Either way, we benefit

It was a product mix up and a mistake. You were never meant to receive 54.6 yard rolls. So yah, great deal, but it was an error by woot so the point still stands that the better deal, comparing the REAL products here, was the 6-pack.

Listen now and believe us later. This is Woot, and wooters do what they do.

I didn’t realize that you are the purchasing director for Woot! Would you like to speak on behalf of anyone else? Bezos maybe?
