(5lbs) Five Star Coffee Ethiopian Yirgacheffe

(5lbs) Five Star Coffee Ethiopian Yirgacheffe

Anyone tried this? I tend to like ethiopian beans but five lbs. is a lot of coffee if it ain’t too good

I have basically only used these beans for the past 1.5 years or so, pick them up whenever they pop up on here when I’m nearly out. I think they’re decent and they keep well, and it beats spending ~$200 for the same quantity from my local shops (they don’t sell by the 5lb). notes in the picture (cocoa, red apple, honey) are closer to what you should expect than the description (Black Tea, Lemongrass, and Honey) so maybe Woot should update that.

I ordered three (3) 5# bags but only received one bag. Contacted customer support but have yet ti hear back from them.

The weight is correct and on our end, I see a “3” which should mean all 3 were sent. I wonder if they were in separate boxes 1 of 3, 2 of 3, etc.

Here is a photo of the one box I received with one 5# bag of coffee.

So, how’s the coffee taste?

I like a light roasted ethiopian bean and so far so good. It’s not as intensely flavorful as some yirgacheffe beans I’ve had in the past, and maybe that’s a good thing for a lot of folks. I’m just drinking it in a drip brewer but I’ll try it later in a pour-over and see if it tastes any different.

Would you buy it again?

Just curious, is there a ROAST DATE on the bag, or just a BEST BY date? 5lbs is a lot if you don’t use plenty on a daily basis.

(Bravo to mod for blurring user’s address. )

Mine has a handwritten roast date of the SAME DAY as shipment! Shipping was about four days after order date. So I suspect they are roasting on demand once they get enough orders.
I am on the west coast and this is a N.C. roaster… kinda wild that I can get beans this fresh, better than if I bought local. I will likely order again.

Looks like this variety is sold out. But they have a 3-pack sampler in the grocery category now if you want to try them out. Price/lb is not quite as good but it’s less of a commitment than 5-lbs of one type of bean

Thanks for validating. I’ll keep an eye out for the next time.

Could you please remind me how much this was listed for?

Wait, North Carolina?! (“Nawf Care’linah” to locals.) (Holly Springs, NC.) That’s where I am. Have to watch for this reappearing and order me some. (And now I believe that they probably did drop ship some beans roasted in the last few days! Good deal.)

Broad Street and Counter Culture are the big local roasters here in Durham, will have to look these folks up.

@OKcompWooter Yep, much less of a bargain. Well … on their web site, 12oz bags are $19. So yes, a bargain. 3Pk Five Star Coffee Mother’s Day Whole Bean Bundle

Our buyer confirmed with the vendor that they do stamp the roast date on the bags.

Not calling anyone a liar but maybe someone got bad info?

This is the second bag I’ve ordered this year with no roast date, stamped or handwritten.

Last time I got the Machu Pichu blend which I’ve had before. It wasn’t bad, but not as flavorful as in the past. Now, that could be just variation in the batch. No crop is exactly the same but not having the roast date at least introduces an element of uncertainty.

I bought a different variety this time (Seriously Good) figuring maybe it was just the blend that had a date stamp problem. But this also arrived with no roast date.

Maybe the vendor told the buyer the bags are all dated but they were wrong.
