If we commoners that might be in the market for a $59 laptop could only understand what you’re telling us. Lol.

2019 system on a chip. Very old tech.

Definite pass for me.
The most frustrating spec for me would be the screen resolution. 1600x1024 is the minimum I would want. I have one device with a lower resolution, and it makes surfing the web frustrating, esp looking at ads on Craigslist or FB marketplace.
Beyond that, the RAM size is a negative limitation, and the puny storage means it may not have enough space for OS updates.
The processor setup may be the least limiting factor. Not that far off what some smartphones run. But pretty sad when my phone has a higher resolution screen.

Honestly this is a perfectly good value for 60 bucks It’s still going to be supported for a few more years and it has USB-C cables on both sides and that’s all you really need to know.

Obviously for $60 the specs are low budget and entry level. But someone buying a $60 laptop is expecting low budget specs so I wouldn’t sweat.

I actually thought about buying one of these just because my main laptop is a surface pro with a detachable keyboard and it’s not good for typing like on a couch or on bed or on your lap. This could be like a the fact of typewriter word processor solution for me for that loan and use case

But I don’t use Google docs as much as I used to I’ve been switching to libre office a bit so I don’t know.

Sure but this is 60 bucks.

Look I think most people buying a $60 one expect it to be way past its EOL and that’s not the case here.

This cost less than having a couple pizzas delivered.

I struggled to understand the way people nitpick over something that is cartoonishly low in price.

You expect more than 4 GB of RAM for 60 bucks? If you want 8 GB of RAM you’re going to spend three times that much.

And you probably won’t have USBC ports on both sides which is a nice little convenience here

This is probably not ideally a primary device for anyone but it could be perfect for a kid. Perfect for a secondary device for someone that just needs a laptop board processing because they don’t want to bring their very expensive laptop out do a work side or something

Last time I lost my job, I bought a cheap Acer for around $150. It was perfect for its intended use- sending out resumes, filling out unemployment forms, web searches. There’s not enough storage to add more than a program or two, but you can add external storage.

This isn’t appropriate to be your main computer for all purposes, but it’s perfect if you have limited resources or need a cheap computer for basic browsing.

A Chromebook with Intel Celeron N4000 / N4020 will be noticeably faster than the MT8183. The AMD A4-9120C (of the same 2019-2020 era) is in between both in performance but more power hungry than either (which may or may not matter). The MT8183 does get 1 more year of support until 2030, though I doubt anyone would want to browse with these slow CPUs by 2028.

Obviously there are other factors (other specs, design, battery and refurbishment condition) that are also significant.

Just arrived today and am quite disappointed. The specs showed it had a BD-R drive for optical storage. It does not. That was the whole reason I bought it. My husband teaches a film studies class and the aging BD player the university has is finicky on the best of days. He really needs something to replace it. For the price point of this it was perfect, except the listing was a lie. Was really hoping that this would have been the answer. Small and portable and working better than they dying university one. They really need to verify the listed specs before offering it for sale.
