“This model is EOL…” Yeah, no kidding — it’s from 2018!
Oof @2018
“With the combination of planned support for Google Expeditions AR and easy administration, students and staff have a better experience.”
That’s quite the mouthful.
I wasn’t able to find Chrome OS version number. Woot, any info on this?
Looks like it could be ChromeOS version 116.0.5845.210 which has the same platform (15509.81.0) within ChromeOS “recovery.conf”.
recovery.conf:
name=Acer Chromebook Tab 10
version=15509.81.0
channel=STABLE
hwidmatch=^SCARLET .*

Yeah this is definitely rough it’s a 6 year old underpowered tablet with mild Linux availability. I was looking into it but there’s not much going on for it full Linux OS wise. I mean all hardware deserves a second chance but honestly looking at the specs I’m surprised it got a first chance. One would really need to hate having spare time to pay for the opportunity to force working drivers into this ugh the compiling and waiting. This should be free at the door of a hackcon or Linuxcon for those brave enough but maybe I’m wrong maybe somebody will just install Linux mint and say hey it works right of the install and it doesn’t take ten years to load a single YouTube tab. Though you can always install Chrome OS flex (maybe) if you hate yourself.
It runs the Rockchip RK3399 for anyone wanting to know more than “Cortex A53” since that spec isn’t anywhere near the full picture.
I’m thinking about it as a youtube machine and piano sheet music display. Probably not though.
Hello. From the vendor: version 104.0.5112.83
“Who would buy this?”
A dude looking for a cheap ereader. And doesn’t want to have to deal with proprietary stuff.
