Which aerogarden is the best for greens?
Happy Forumversary!
I put the cake there to celebrate my birthday week
I might stretch it into 2 weeksâŚor just birthday season weâll see how it goes!
Depends if you mean salad greens or Sprouting greens. They have one specifically for sprouting.
Sneaky! Thatâs the same cheesecake you get on Forumversary.
The big is what you get on birthdays
I remember someone commenting in the ânotwootrelatedâ garden thread that one particular machine was just much better in general, like it has room for lots of stuff but a relatively small footprint or something like that. But I canât remember so searching for that comment is likeâŚyeah right.
Iâve got an aloe plant that Iâve managed to keep alive, but Iâm thinking it may be easier to start with salad greens then maybe add the micro/sprout greens. The blogs make it look easy but I also know Bob Ross had me thinking I could go from doodling with a colored pen to landscape artist in just a few hours. Bob Ross was a legend, but he overestimated my skill set, patience and level of commitment. >_<
If you donât have a green thumb, sprouts might be the way to go. They are ready to eat in a few days.
There is an add on for the Aerogarden Harvest models for seedlings on the mothership for $23.

You could also do a simple lighted sprouting tray for sprouts/microgreens on mothership for $40.

I thought you were going to bedâŚ
This one! I have it. I have lots of aerogardens and homemade things. Itâs great for salads and herbs. I have the bigger ones too and theyâre almost too big for just salad greens. So Iâm thinking you mean this one. The âeliteâ has some nice features and gives you more options on setting the light cycle and stuff but salads and herbs would be awesome in either of the slim models. This is a great price.
They actually just have a special attachment for sprouting. Itâs a different top âbedâ instead of where you put the plastic pods. Itâs pretty cool if you want microgreens and donât have time or patience to grow them any other way. You can get it for this model.

Bob Ross and sprouts make me think of Chia Pets.
Thank you!! I may get this as a birthday present for myself!
Thank you for going down the rabbit hole, I appreciate you!
Is there an attachment to keep cats away?
If only I wasnât such a 5 year old stuck on my iceberg lettuceâŚ
Agree with the sprouts idea
either with or without the Aerogarden
The best video Iâve seen with a list of links for where to get stuff:
The process is simple. Can make a batch that will last all week with 2 trays. Stainless steel=easy cleanup. very fine mesh screens prevents smaller seeds from falling through (broccoli/radish/micro greens), no plastics involved.
If you take this on, 2 tips:
Instead of using the sink sprayer to water, dunk each tray in a bowl or pan of water. This will prevent the roots being directed downward through the screen.
To remove the hulls after harvesting rinse in a salad spinner then drain and spin dry. Should handle most of the hulls nicely.
Sprouts are great and this method seems to have a higher sprouting % than the Mason jars.
All the best!
Thank you! This looks awesome! My roommate is vegan and I can see this as a fun project.
I got the other harvest model so I can play with it and see if gardening is my thing. My mom is an excellent gardener but sheâs more into flowers and palms.
