Please read up on Ozone before purchasing. Ozone in an enclosed environment is NOT healthy and is dangerous! Why would anyone assume that just because ozone helps way up in the stratosphere that it makes it safe for inside your home? In fact, this device is actually banned to use in California.
Info from the EPA:
Ozone is unhealthy so don’t breathe it, but…
These are awesome. My wife has a dog problem and these really do clean the air. You do have to seal off the room and make sure no living anything is around it. These are also great for taking the smell out of cars if you are a smoker.
I have one of these and they are great. I have two dogs that like to go chasing after skunks. When this happens and they come into the house they usually run around the whole house before I realize what has happened, getting the house stinky like skunk spray. This is the only thing that will eliminate the skunk odor from the house. I turn it on for 20 minutes, take the dogs out for a 2 hour outing and come back and the house smells fresh again.
My sister is a heavy smoker and when she wanted to sell her car I put it in her car for about 10 minutes and it got the smoke smell out.
You do have to head the warning label and leave the area for a couple of hours when you turn it on, but they do work great.
The great thing is that if enough people get these we can generate enough ozone to patch the hole in the ozone layer and save the planet and all of mankind.
I have this unit and it has worked well using it properly. Be sure to follow the guidelines on how long it should run based on the size of the area that you are treating. The first time I used it I ran it far too long for the area and it caused some issues with chemical odors in the room for a bit, but they eventually went away. It is true that ozone can damage your lungs, but as long as you use common sense by following the instructions, making sure you ventilate the area properly after it has run, you should be good. It is a shame that Californians can’t follow simple instructions and prohibited from using so many cool things.
I know they say it’s bad but a slight bit of ozone in the air smells fresh to me.
In California, what isn’t dangerous anymore? These things work great.
According to California, breathing and drinking water causes cancer. You’ll forgive me if I don’t take their recommendation on ANYTHING seriously.
That is factually incorrect.
Hmm, I think not.
By that logic, it would make sense to allow the free sale of nuclear weapons as long as they were accompanied by a list of suitable safety precautions. Seriously, though, the danger posed by the improper use of one of these units by someone who doesn’t have access to the instructions is significant.
I know one person for sure whose recommendations I won’t take: @kecker. Completely divorced from reality.
Ok everyone, let’s just chill. It’s Monday, no need to be arguing.
Proposition 65 is great!
Maybe someone could make an amendment that prevents warnings for things that do NOT cause cancer or birth defects. If that were to happen warnings wouldn’t be over used, or used in situations where it’s not applicable, and would actually have an impact/meaning.
Here on the East Coast, there’s lots of radon in the ground. It’s the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer, I believe, after smoking. You can also get too much radon from your well, so drinking water can be affected. So yeah you can get cancer from the air and water. Homes in my State, Maine, need to pass a radon test before sale.
I think, perhaps, you should give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he was being a bit hyperbolic for effect.

Literally thinking I should just notify authorities about this listing. This thing isn’t safe but it says it’s perfect for many places. The listing is simply full of misstatements, half truths and things no one can measure or prove. Hey you should only enter a space after “risidual” effects have diminished? WTF? My favorite line? “Ensure that no people (and also pets) in the room when it’s working”. Holy crap is there a lawyer in this thread?
-
Perfect for basements, cars, garages, kitchens, restaurants and hotels
-
All ozone machines all for UNOCCUPIED space only
-
120 Min timer for safety concerns
-
Set a timer before you leave the room
-
Ensure that no people (and also pets) in the room when it’s working
-
Return to the room when all residual ozone reverts back to oxygen, which costs normally 30 minutes
I don’t think you have any idea what this product is. They can be EXTREMELY useful. Hotels have been using them for years.
- They are great for mold/odors/etc. in certain places.
- Yes, you must use in UNOCCUPIED areas only.
- Yes, a timer is a good thing for this.
- YES, again, use a timer
- Again, leave the room when it is on.
- Yep, do not come back into the room until the ozone has dissipated.
Years ago you only had one choice on something like this, and it costs about $500, 30 years ago…Zontec was the company.
Good luck with your lawyer, lol. You might want to get him/her to ban bleach also.
Absolutely. It could be harmful only if you do NOT use it properly.
