I’m surprised no one has mentioned this. Well my wife has used these once when our local wholesale club store was out of stock on the liquid form of free n clear. After she did a few loads of clothing especially the stuff she wears. She doesn’t use any smelly fabric softners in dryer again especially for her clothing. For her clothes occasionally mine as well get fragrance free dryer balls thrown into dryer. Now, after using pods the clothes had some sort of hard to describe smell. Similar to that if we washed using well or reclaimed water. Using the normal liquid of course never had such smell. Once, she was done with the large package she let me know to never buy the free n clear pods again. So, should I buy her these as a gag gift?

No. Unless maybe the gift includes you doing the laundry and giving back rubs for the duration.
Its only that I warned you prior to buying. When I originally bought it she was thrilled to try them compared to the liquid version. That was short lived. She soon was thrilled to have used the last one. She of course switched between every other load of normal laundry she used unscented detergent with. Therefore the smell wouldn’t last longer than a week at most.
Prediction: doubtful good thing it sold out before I could choose to buy or let it go.
