Amaze-Heater Flat Panel Room Heaters

Amaze-Heater Flat Panel Room Heaters

I don’t see the word thermostat anywhere. Wouldn’t that be a useful thing for a heater to have?

The reviews on these are also pretty bad with people complaining about a terrible chemical smell. No thanks.

Home Depot has the 400 Watt Solo on their web site. I think it’s the same one. It has WiFi and you need to use an app to control it.

They are back again, they just cannot get rid of these things.

“Suitable for allergy sufferers - will not dry the air”

False. If it warms the room without adding water, the relative humidity will go down, in other words, it WILL dry the air. However, since it doesn’t blow the air, it will not keep allergens suspended to the same extend as a heater that does. But the convection DOES move the air, so it’s probably irrelevant for allergy sufferers.

Could you use this in an attached garage? Thanks!

That’s exactly where I use mine! I have a detached 2-story garage that I converted to a Man Castle. I have a 600-watt heater similar to this I got here on woot a couple of years ago. I leave it on round the clock in the winter, and it keeps the temps above freezing. Then I turn on other space heaters to warm the place up to comfort levels when I plan on being out there. I have really good insulation, and for example, today it’s about 38 degrees and I went out there and it was not uncomfortably cold, but you can’t count on this as the main source of heat for a completely cold space. The smell some refer to goes away after a couple of days. I was leery about mounting it to the wall, but in 2 years use it hasn’t been a problem. I’m actually buying one of these today to put in the upstairs. It will mean that much less the space heaters will have to work.

For reference, having this one on 24/7, I turned on two space heaters, one infra-red fireplace-looking type downstairs, and a small electric fan operated one upstairs. I turned them on early in the day last Friday, and by party time, it was T-shirt warm in there, despite being near zero outside, and having no other source of heat. So basically this one at 600 watts, and 2 1500 watt heaters running part time. I’m hoping another one of these will eliminate the need for the second 1500 watt heater. We’ll see.

The smell is just because they are new. It goes away soon.

Home Depot has simple, temperature only controlled thermostats for $27.99.

I received two of the 600w models. I tested one without mounting it. It’s definitely putting out heat. Hot enough to be hot but won’t cause burns with accidental touches. I believe it could take the chill off of a 12’x12’ room if left on, with the door closed. I’ll test the other tomorrow, but I already like them.

Things I notice…

  • the heater seems to be made of 1/2" painted MDF with the heating element embedded within it.
  • the smell. Definitely noticeable. Chemical? Yeah well, it ain’t flowers. Smells like paint mixed with that white paste the strange kids used to eat in grade school. Yep… the smell produced that flashback. Likely the smell of whatever adhesive the MDF is made of. I’ve had it on for approximately 12 hours and the smell has reduced by about 95%.
  • I would not trust this to keep pipes from freezing if you live in areas where single digit, or lower temps are common.
  • No wi-fi or anything like that is needed. Just plug it in and flip the switch.

The minimalist in me is tossing around multi-purposing the wall space. The heater would make a great canvas for a painting. Perhaps painted with chalkboard black and used in the home office, or used as a projection screen?
