Amazon Eero Mesh WiFi Router

Amazon Eero Mesh WiFi Router

These are good beginner mesh routers but woefully inadequate for anything more than the very basics, because 1. You have to pay a subscription to access even basic stuff like parental controls and 2. Even if you pay for stuff you can’t do simple things like splitting your 2.4 and 5ghz bands which makes some device setup miserable if they only support 2.4.

I have a eero pro 6e. Wanted another nose for the basement. Does anyone know if this is compatible? Thanks

Ha ha. It says:

Type: Router (connects to modem as primary router)

So I’m not sure. Maybe check out your 6e documentation or maybe ask on Amazon or see if someone has already asked over there.

I’d say off-hand it looks like it might act as a bridge device…

I’m not 100%, but it should be - My ISP issued us the old version of these eero devices and when I called to get more they sent completely different eero devices and set up was a breeze. I ended up replacing it all with a different generation of eero devices so I could stop renting from my ISP and that went super smooth as well, I’d wager all eero devices are compatible.

I’m interested in where it’s made. I don’t buy computer products from China.

Thanks! I will never buy hardware that requires a subscription to access all it’s functions. I don’t want to encourage dumb behavior

All eero’s are backward compatible, this one will be an older one than your 6e’s, I have had eero’s for many years and am very happy with them.

To connect 2.4ghz devices, you can very easily suspend your 5ghz band to attach devices that do not play well on dual band networks, I have very rarely had any issue connecting additional devices.

While I do not like to pay for addition services, the basic functionality of these eeros will be sufficient for the majority of users

This exactly! Behind a good firewall and/or pihole setup you basically have all the features you would need on great hardware for the cost.

I would be hard-pressed to find an electronic component that isn’t assembled without Chinese manufactured parts…

Yes, on the eero site and on indy searches, all eeros are backward compatible all the way

As others have said, you can pause the 5ghz band for 15mins to set up 2.4ghz devices. Never had much of a problem during setup, and never had any problems post set up.

Yes, most savy users want separate band access, non broadcasted ssids etc. This is not the product line for those people.

How much for the plant?

$299.99. Want me to ring that up for you?
