Looking at the Mothership, this is the base model, good for connections up to 550Mbps. Refurbished there will run you $55.99

Hi there. These are being pulled from Amazon inventory so we don’t have a lot of information. Here it is on Amazon:

I thought they were super easy but I got a three pack for like 280. I think I got a much fancier model but I would have been just as happy with 3 of these I think.

Easy to install and you can use your old Wi-Fi name so that you don’t have to log in each device. I bought a couple of these on Amazon when they were $29.99. I’m not sure if that was a sale price but it was at that price for a couple of weeks. My brother was surprised at how small they are and that they don’t have six or any external antennas like our previous router.

Waiting for the eero pro and 100% in for one.

From the specs, this looks like model number: Jxxxxxx. Currently listing at $69.99 new, $55.99 “certified refurbished”. This is correctly known as “eero Gen 2 Base/Extender” [note no ‘pro’ in the name]. (The latest models are now Gen 4.)

Amazon listings are quite vague about these eero devices — it might be purposely so. They’re all called some variation of “eero mesh wifi router”, which is rather unhelpful. The specs list non-specific items like: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, 2x2 MU-MIMO, beamforming, Works with Alexa [really!], WPA2, DHCP, IPv6, NAT, VPN Passthrough, UPnP, Static IP and Port Forwarding… none of these differentiates the various models.

Here is some specific data for this model: dual-band, AC1300. CPU: 32-bit 4-core Cortex A7.

Are different generations compatible? (If I buy this for a family member who needs to extend their network and it’s a gen 4 [pro 6] network, will it still work?). They’re currently using a couple of Echoes as extenders with minimal improvement.

My understanding it that they are all compatible. The only thing is this will not have WiFi 6 like the pro 6.
