FYI: The Amazon “Underground Actually Free” app program is slated to end at the end of 2019, so it’s still over 2 years to go before it ends. See Amazon Is Ending the Underground Actually Free Program | Fortune for details.

I’ve got a couple of woot Samsung Galaxy TAB 3’s for the last three years. They are OK. But don’t pickup Wi-Fi very well. Other things in the house do just fine–I’m only talking about 20’ away and through a wall. Rather than buy a Wi-Fi repeater/extender I was thinking of getting a new tablet(s(always buy in pairs so one’s charged up)). Any of you tech peeps think this Fire6 would be better? I mainly check email, FB, a couple of websites. Got a few android cool apps that I never use.

Anybody know if this one will charge better than last versions? I’ve always run into a problem with the charging ports on fire tablets.

It comes with “Special Offers”. Sounds great doesn’t it. Except when you get it you find out that “Special Offers” is actually game ADs that come on the screen when you turn it on. It’s no problem to remove these by calling Amazon Fire support and paying a $15 fee. Nowhere in the sales ad or documentation does it say what “Special Offers” mean.

“SlimPort enabled USB 2.0 (micro-B connector) port to connect to an HDTV or VGA monitor with an adapter”

My MHL adapter does not work on any Fire Tablets…What the heck are they referring to?

Thanks

I bought one a while back, and I haven’t gotten any ads on the lock screen. Ads aren’t a big deal anyway, I had them on my old Kindle tablet.

This tablet is nice, but a bit small in size, and storage. I use it for web browsing, reading, and music. Heavier game use, or apps probably won’t be great due to the limited space.

I was able to set up the Google Play store on mine using a YouTube tutorial, which I recommend since Amazon’s app store is limited in comparison.

MHL is a competing product, so, no it won’t work.

A reviewer on Amazon says this works great with this model:

Thanks, appreciate–[costs almost as much as the tablet]

Obviously yours did not come with “Special Offers” as do these. I also got mine a few months ago and I like it. Mine came with “Special Offers” and displayed the ads. After trying to get rid of the myself I turned to Amazon support who looked mine up and told me the story behind “Special Offers” and asked me for $15 to remove them. I argued with them to no avail until I finally said I would send it back for full credit. At that time they said “as a one time favor” they would remove “Special Offers” for no charge. I would get a second one if they did not have “Special Offers” on it.

The reason these are so cheap is due to ‘special offers’ You have the option of buying the model without ‘special offers’ for $15 more when you buy it…but yeah, go ahead and complain about a tablet that costs $25 lol

I can afford the $15. My main complaint is I did not see what special offers were and I still do not see what special offers are defined as in the advertising of the product. If they were to be upfront about it and say somewhere what special offers entail then OK. But seeing that they chose not to say anything about what it was, then they are being deceptive. And, why would I think that these are so cheap at $25 + $5 shipping (used) when I bought a new tablet through Amazon with 16GB storage, 1GB RAM, Micro SD card slot, 10.1" display, 2.0 GHz Quad-core, Android 5.1 OS (Lollipop), with a separate HDMI port for $50 including shipping two years ago. By the way, this offering on Woot does not give you the option to purchase without special offers.

How about this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mydp-Slimport-to-HDMI-TV-Video-Adapter-USB-Cable-For-LG-V10-G3-G4-G5-Nexus-4-5-7-/292186965647?hash=item4407b3468f

I bought one like this, but the extra cable is a hassle. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mydp-Slimport-to-HDMI-TV-Video-Adapter-USB-Cable-For-LG-V10-G3-G4-G5-Nexus-4-5-7-/252016056295?hash=item3aad53d7e7
