Amazon Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD

Amazon Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD

I’ve got one of these, and it’s got more memory then the current batch. The main reason i don’t use it is that it doesn’t support HDR.

Does this come with remote?

It sure does.

(Please Note: I’m not employed by Woot, but I volunteer to help in the forums.)

Do you have to use the remote to “talk” to Alexa?

Just be careful with these, I ordered this the last time Woot ran this deal and apparently they’re obsolete? They don’t work with current 2FA requirements from my understanding to be able to log in as a first time user.

After going in circles myself, I spent about 45 minutes on phone with Amazon and the reps were tried all sorts of work around to figure it out how to get it linked but eventually stated that it was unusable due to age and being unable to mirror current 2FA standards. I had to go through refund process with Woot. The refund process was smooth but it’s surprising they are still selling these again?

Thanks. It looked interesting because of the ethernet connection, but I wanted to verify if it was ok for the current standards. As expected, it is not. Thanks.!

Only does 4k30, not 4k60.

I have this and Apple TV+ is not supported. You can’t install latest FireTV software either. They no longer support this box. Although it is a nice box to install Kodi on.

Yeah, you are actually also able to use the WiFi no issue but the issue is if you haven’t had an account on it since it is no longer supported, at least in my experience, it’s not possible to activate it anymore making these bricks.

Mine literally is working as a candle holder at present :joy: I really need to toss it.

Sell it on eBay. Perhaps to be nice to the next buyer, indicate it to be unused but should be only paired with a existing account for another room .

Weird looking TV

This device was great the first two years I had it. Then it required Factory resetting once a month. Eventually it needed to be factory reset once a week. After 3 years, it was completely useless. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone. They haven’t done operating system upgrades since 2017. They have barely done security upgrades since then.
