I believe in you. he wants three.
Do you know if @wajeremy would want this?
any wooters have one? what do you think? I can see the mothership reviews but I trust the woot mob more
I had one of the first gen Scribes, which I believe this is one of. My “elevator summary” of it was: “It’s just like paper, only more expensive.” It gives a really great paper-like writing experience. If that’s all you want, you’ll probably be happy. I was hoping they’d add more features, but they never really did. I used mine mostly as a bullet journal. I sold the Scribe and got a Boox, which which had more features, but I didn’t end up sticking with it, sold that too. If you have fairly limited expectations, or if you mostly want it as a kindle rather than as a notebook that can also do kindle-like stuff occasionally, it’s pretty good. Also, be aware that if you drop the pencil you risk breaking a $1 nib, but there are cases that can hold onto the pencil really good when in transit.
I got a 2024 (gen 2) that is pretty similar to this on Black Friday and I love it. While not cheap for a Kindle, this a good way to test the waters and see if you’ll like e-ink or not. I think the writing experience is great, practically no lag so and it feels like you are writing on paper. Way better than an iPad Pro or similar slick-screen device. For Kindle books you can open up a notepad sidecar alongside to take notes as you go. Highlighting the book itself works as expected but note that handwriting on the book txt is not great as it gets inserted by moving the book txt around your note. The sidecar is much better to take written notes, especially in landscape mode. You can also email PDFs in and write on them but not use the sidecar feature. Bottom line if you read a lot of Kindle books it is great, but I’d call it more a souped up e-reader than a productivity tool
