AmazonBasics CD Slot Car Phone Holder Mount

AmazonBasics CD Slot Car Phone Holder Mount

Anyone with a CD player in your car, raise your hand. Not all at once, we’re trying to get an accurate count…

I have a very similar cellphone CD mount from Amazon.

  • Best, least obtrusive design for view of road and air flow.
  • This one looks even sturdier.

Just do not overtighten to avoid breaking tabs and ruining both holder and CD mechanism if you ever intend to sell the car.

Mine is 2 years old and survived 130 degree interior heat. Kiddo thought black car was hot 10 years ago. It does get that way!

Me me me meee…
Don’t use it. Old tech. But this is a use of an otherwise unused 5 CD changer that Ford use to think was desirable. [Tried to “Buy American.” So I hoped. Made in Mexico…]

It does have built-in usb-A and (terrible) Bluetooth design. 135Watt AC Inverter built-in as well. Base model Hybrid. Still running well after 11 years with original NiMH battery packs. Surprising.

I have a CD player. Granted, I just use the Bluetooth to my phone and play my own music lol. But this would come in handy, where I don’t use it, and my usb to charge is in a foolish place. SMH :woman_facepalming:t2:

I have a 5 or 10 disc player in my Pilot and the funny thing is the entire radio unit went out and you would think Honda would put in an updated model, nope, I am getting a brand new one of the exact same thing - even though it is far more expensive than new systems - go figure (it’s covered under my 5 yr bumper to bumper extended warranty which has paid for itself in the 1st 15 months)

My family van from 2005 that just made 60K in mileage still has a functioning CD player. Some reason the sound quality is much louder when playing CD’s too

One of the dumbest inventions ever.

:joy:  a modern solution created with a vintage mind

While I am not at all an audiophile, there still is a place for CDs. They have better frequency response than even vinyl. If used in the right equipment they have a far bigger range than digitized formats too with possibly the exception of Flac encoding. But this is not something I do it’s something I just share as technology is evolving but sometimes newer formats have surprising limits.

So… It’s not for slot-cars I guess…

No CD player. Waiting to upgrade my 8-track player someday…

You have an '05 with 60k - wow less than 4k a yr and I thought I didn’t drive much

Bunkered at home last year unfortunately helped lots of us drive 90% less :slightly_frowning_face: …to the point of battery needing to be jumpstarted. Found the standard 12V car battery lost charge after sitting forelorn in the driveway for 5 weeks after a major lockdown. Glad there was Amazon and that W thingy, whose name must not be spoken.

I bought my pilot in June of last year and have had 1 oil change bc I was at the dealership for something and thought why not and in Oct am having my second one which will still be under the mileage.

I have put on more miles this year due to running between houses. Hoping to hunker down this winter and not have to go anywhere. I wish that W place delivered groceries where I live.

I do have a CD player in my car (it’s a 2012 that I’ve been driving since 2011). The only use the cd slot has seen in years, though, has been one of these phone holders (which is surprisingly sturdy!), as I use Bluetooth for everything. When I first got the car, I used the usb often for music, but I haven’t even used that audio selection for years… Now I almost wonder what’s on the flash drive plugged into that USB slot

Good planning @Wooter825352529. The shipments I received last year from Amazon and that place whose names must not be spoken were via their ship to home. Prime vs. purchases in excess of $35 being no shipping charge. It was not from a local store. Rather some centralized depo in both cases.

Apologies of a soty - Know this was off topic - but this is lifeline info for some if there is a lockdown due to confluence of COVID + Flu e.g., was whacking Idaho really hard a week ago. So am sharing what helped me stay safer.

So do we … inquiring minds want to know

@daveinwarshington - you seem as daring to try new things like I am. It maybe newfangled, but have you seen this?
