Anti-Theft Wheel Lock Seat Belt Lock

Whoever designed this did not live in Chicago or NYC where entire steering wheel sections are cut or power sawed to defeat such devices.

Was thinking same thing. Or that the seatbelt clip that this connects into is also fairly easy to cut. And then they also mention the added bonus that you can put your handbag through it as well to protect that - given the straps on most of those can be cut with nothing more than a pocketknife or scissors. A car thief isn’t likely to be deterred much by this.

This “anti theft device” is not even dummy proof, let alone criminal proof.

Don’t even need a steering wheel to remain and they can drive off.

Rechargeable dremel tool with a diamond cutoff wheel, or (even simpler) bolt cutters… SO many reasons you don’t see these much anymore.

Dare you to make it worth their time by adding a visible purse to the deal!

“Just slide your handbag’s handle on the steering wheel lock together and it’s safe and sound inside your car.”

It is a deterrent, in that thieves will move on to a vehicle that is less problematic. Thieves are lazy and would rather not even bother with this device when the next car is free of challenges.

Thieves cut out sections of steering wheels in all the major cities I have trained or lived in. The portable saws available would make it an under 10 second removal.

I’ll leave it to you to look up “The Club” and how chunks of steering wheel are removed in 15 sec or less.
Only if an alarm sounded, would that be a deterrent. Even then it requires neighbors who react and police that do not take 10 min to respond (let alone not respond).

This is what some folks, tired of replacing are having to do to prevent catalytic convert thefts: rebar cages
