I had it and lost it. This would have been great for my 77 year old mother. My father died and she’s trying to do things around the house.

In for one for my friend who loves pink things and will potentially living on her own soon enough. It is an ok starter kit by the looks of things.

Don’t be fooled by the name. DIY would never promote such space crap. Kits like this end up at the flea market. Want a go to tool kit by the tools separately and place them in a tackle box for your elderly folks. Those who would use such tools would just end up being frustrated when the tool used takes that much longer to perform the task.

Dis looks like a throw away tools. Not sure if the hammer is safe to use. You wouldn’t want it slip out of hand and flew backward.

Even non-essential basics would perform better.

Soooo you’re saying I saved not only $1 but time and hassle too!?

Exactly. You should thank me for saving you the hassle and frustration that would have overcome your thought process within minutes of actual delivery.

What brand and sort of things would you recommend for a kit for an older woman suddenly mostly alone? I’m in a wheelchair and she can hire out for major things. Just for things she may run in to? Dad took care of everything so well that we are left with no clue. As wonderful as that is, please tell your loved ones where the keys to your lawnmower and what needs changed when like air filters. Thanks

Hi, I completely understand. My mother-in-law lost her husband pretty quickly and she tends to lean on me for the once a month ac filter and other chores her husband handled.

A easy way to get a decent DIY kit is to drive to your local hardware store. Harbor Freight has a very replicable brand and very reasonable priced. Ask the tool advisors for assistance. You want a decently balanced hammer, atleast 1 regular and Phillips head screw driver. I highly recommend staying away from bit kits as the interchangeable bits usually get lost quickly. Get a socket set as well. Standard or Metric I prefer Metric since it has more suface gaps and usually can find a socket that is very compatible to Standard sizes. 7 or 8 sockets from 7mm-15 would work best. As most Lawnmower oil and vehicle pan bolts are well within those sizes. Next would be a nice pair of channel locks and an adjustable wrench works wonders as well. Get a decent metal utility knife or utility scissors or even wire cutters are helpful. Don’t forget duck tape and super glue just for those instances someone may need a quick patch job. Those tools and items alone should solve many task one would stumble upon. Buy a plastic tackle box to store them in and while your buying the tackle box mine as well look at the reusable zip ties they are also very handy and not that expensive for 20-30 pack.

Hope this helps you won’t end up with cheap tools that you would be laughed at when your repair man shows up without a good pair of pliers. Hand him the channel locks and watch him applaud you. Just make sure your tools don’t grow legs which is usually the only way a man will lose a decent quality tool.
