Ah, the iPad 10th gen, the really nice “just right” model that Apple should have made the new mainstream iPad model, replacing the iPad 9… but instead choose to keep selling the iPad 9 for another year (have they ever done that?) at the forever mainstream model MSRP of $329 (street price $250).

Seriously, Apple would have had a winner if instead of pricing the iPad 10 like an iPad Air Lite, with an MSRP of $449 (64GB), street $399, they had made it the new mainstream iPad at $329 MSRP.

As to this Woot deal price of $470 for an open box, with 90-day Woot Warranty…

The iPad 10, 256GB is regularly available, brand new, sealed box, with Apple 1-year warranty for $499.

Currently $499 at Woot Mother Amazon, Best Buy, and Target. If you have a Prime or Red Circle card, that would be an additional 5% discount at Amazon and Target, or $474, net of discount.

Apple May 7th iPad Event -

Apple finally made the overdue change - moving the pricing of the iPad 10 64GB (aka “iPad Air Lite”, due to its price) to the mainstream model (from $449 to $349), logically dropping the iPad 9 from the lineup!. (iPad 10 256GB, MSRP is now $499, the old street price).

Cannot now imagine mainstream users going with anything but an iPad 10. It has the key latest features - front camera centered on landscape edge for video calls (was actually the first iPad with this), stereo speakers similarly aligned for landscape video viewing, USB-C connector, and no home button (more efficient use of space).

The only justifications for the iPad Air (128GB) at $599 are if you actually need the M2 (vs A14) cpu or the nicer drawing experience of the laminated display and the new Apple Pencil Pro. The cameras and screen size (11 vs 10.9”) are the same. You know who you are if you actually need that.

Now that list price is $499, you want to drop the price some more for the open box?
