I agree. I “inherited” an older iPad Air and it’s just barely functional as a reader. I’m watching for a newer mini, this one would be very slow.

Well, it’s less than 1/2 of current 6th gen price. I do have Mini4. No issue browsing internet and playing Candy Crush. No issue using it for Astrophotography ZWO ASIARIR or other DSLR or mirrorless camera control. No issue flying drone. I think about 80% of the iPad users may just play Cady Crush and web-browsing/movie-Youtube watching, so do they really need the fastest iPad?
