Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max (Grade A Refurbished)

I had purchased one of these grade A refurbished and returned it. It used to be that grade A was “like new”. Then grade A was you cannot see the flaws from 1-foot away. Now it means you cannot see damage from 3 feet away (normal arms length)? What is next, the cracked screen cannot be seen from across the football field?

Woot Totally Fun pricing!?

The unit I purchased and returned has an obvious chip in the side of the glass - now maybe you cannot see the chip from 3 feet away, but it was there and with all stress points that chip would be the starting point for a cracked screen. This phone was not grade A with such a flaw. It should have been scratch and dent and priced as such. Woot is debasing their reputation with this slide in standards. Fortunately, the return was easy. I found a new and bought new as I will not trust this grading system again.

Keep doing that and inserting 1000 postings for perfume (no one wants) in various pages and let’s see how fast you can destroy good will of your customers.

Hoping this is good condition. I’ll update when I receive it and return if needed.

I think the only refurbished iphones worth buying are the ones refurbished by Apple. They used to come up a lot on Woot. But not so much these days. There was an iphone 13 Pro refurbished by Apple posted this weekend but they sold the last bunch today. I was tempted but couldn’t justify paying $500 for a 4 year old phone.

It definitely came with dings on the edges of the casing but I use a case, so that won’t matter. The phone came in a box that was not properly sized for it, and was moving around a good bit when I got the box. A charging cable and block are included, BUT, the charging cable is lightning, not USB-C and therefore does not work for the device. I will have to go out and get a cable. Additionally, the device was on 1% when I turned it on so I couldn’t test much. I am charging it now with a friends cable. The cameras had some sort of residue on it, I think it was from camera ring “protectors” that were removed. I plan to test those out shortly. When I checked the serial number it says manufactured in April 1978 and eligible for paid repairs through Apple. The screen is in good shape. I will report back when I have more time to test the device.
Device was shipped in an Amazon box, and had Amazon listed on the label and packing slip.

Found this reddit comment explaining why the warranty date came up as April 1978

EDIT: The cameras work well. It came with 100% battery health and had 117 charge cycles. In the settings app there was a notice that the display is a genuine apple part which tells me the screen was probably replaced at one point, possibly the back glass too. I’m satisfied with it so far. Will use it a few weeks and see how it goes. The battery has stopped charging at 80% but is using optimized charging too.

2nd Edit: I update the phone to iOS 18 so I could pair my apple watch. A notification popped up to finish my repair of the back glass. It took me through some verification, restarted and then seemed fine. I suspect this phone had both the front and rear glass replaced. The settings in the phone have verified both as genuine apple parts. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with the physical condition of the phone and the battery (still at 100%). I wish I had gotten the proper cable but perhaps Woot/Amazon are willing to send me a new cable.
