So what you’re saying is that Woot has better pricing.

Yay!

(Woot has the same specs, but for $500.)

Wonder if any 16 gb versions will be available. M1 chip is great, but worrry about 8 gbs of ram in 2024. In 2020 8 gbs of RAM was easier to justify.

Apple Mac mini M1 Chip MGNT3LL/A (Late 2020) 8GBRAM, 256GB or 512GB SSD (Your Choice: Model)

  1. Woot needs to clean up that title - based upon what can be ordered, it is only the 512GB storage version for sale for $500.

  2. Given Apple’s clearly insane upcharge pricing for RAM and storage, in the interest of “offering” a price-teaser $599 MSRP 8GB/256GB Mac Mini… $500 for the 512GB model might have been a really solid deal. Except this is the old M1 version. The not so unusual street price of the latest M2 (2023) 8GB/256GB model has hit the same $500 as it regularly did for the old M1 model. Currently $540 at Microcenter if you’re lucky enough to have one nearby you or a friend.

I have no problem with 8gb of RAM. The M series of chips are a beast!!!
Clearly do not need the additional ram like Intel.

Don’t be a part of the problem. You don’t have to justify this for Apple. 8 gigs hasn’t been acceptable for years and it has nothing to do with intel or Apple silicon.

The only reason it kinda works is the speed of the drive. But that wears out the drive faster and there is no way to change it when it goes bad.

It’s a lose/lose for customers.

Depends on use case. I am sure many use cases are fine with 8 GB if ram, but will they be in 2 or 3 years?

But their are so many variables.

But especially on newer hardware with m2, m3 …think it’s time to retire 8 gb.

As much as I hate W-Mart… got to admit that this is a great deal… $699 New at Walmart - 3 year Apple Care $159 - Gold, Silver or Space Grey… https://www.walmart.com/ip/Apple-MacBook-Air-13-3-inch-Laptop-Space-Gray-M1-Chip-8GB-RAM-256GB-storage/609040889?athbdg=L1102

Disagree, The M series of chips don’t have the downfalls of Intel or AMD.
The programs and memory are much better utilized in the M series of architecture.
