Definitely! I do the same with an old XP tower for classic PC games.
I use an ancient Mac Mini as a Blue Bubbles server. Blue Bubbles acts as an iMessage proxy so you can use iMessage on Android. (“Some assembly required.”)
This was more useful before iOS started supporting RCS, but RCS is still unencrypted vs. iMessage.
Plus, having a cheap Mac to switch over to for basic tasks comes in handy.
I was tempted to buy this one as an upgrade, but the mechanical HDD is a deal breaker for me. My current one is from the Stone Age, so this one would laughably be a step up.

I use one as 1.) my home video streaming devices and 2.) a photo slide show to a monitor over my fireplace.
