So let’s see.
Over $2K (include tax) for a ridiculous configuration.
M1. Not much speed-we are on M4
8TB hard drive. What are you doing, stuffing all the internet on your laptop?

The M1 Max is faster than the M4 if you’re doing video editing. I know that you do research on these things and know everything about everyone’s workloads. Welcome to the Internet.

Just for anyone considering these, these are much cheaper on ebay.

It’s listed as new (open box). If this in fact new then the M1 Max with 8 TB storage is still a work beast giving the M4 normal chip a run for its money. Not sure EBay is selling brand new

Neither is this.

You’re right about the beast part.

I mean there are definitely workflows where 8 TB of storage is useful although they’re very niche. That’s why these configurations exist too hit niche use cases.

M4 doesn’t have a Max version yet or anything so it’s not the most powerful chip out there.

I have no idea if this is good value relative to other retailers or anything but to act like nobody might ever need 8 terabytes of storage… I know plenty of people that do a lot of graphically intense work and video editing that will use up 8 terabytes of storage. And these are not upgradable

It wouldn’t be my choice but that’s bc I like to play games and use a touch screen and a stylus. I’d like to be able to repair my own stuff and make additions. so Mac is a non-starter for me. But guarantee you this configuration works for a few thousand people out there
