That’s it exactly! Being introverted does not mean you are antisocial, shy, misanthropic, socially anxious, awkward, agoraphobic, or anything like that. It just means that socializing drains your energy, and solitude recharges it. I am introverted, and I love spending time with people. I just have a limited capacity for it, that’s all.

I’m an ambivert

There was a time in my life in which I was REALLY close to just wandering off into the wilderness, and trying my hand at living as a hermit.

Instead, I decided to try my hand at being a full and active participant in society.

Now, I have a job. I have a wife. I have two kids. I own a nice house. I have two cars in the garage.

Yet, there are times in which I still feel like I don’t really belong, and I wonder if I made the wrong decision. Maybe I should have just wandered off into the wilderness and become a hermit. But, it’s too late, now! At very least, I need to care for and raise these two kids!

We’ll see what happens, after that. In the meantime, I guess I’ll just keep faking it.

Introvert or extrovert is technically about how you recharge your “batteries.” I have found the what I feel to be the best test to determine if you’re an introvert or extrovert is, you attend a gathering with people you like (friends or acquaintances you can connect with). Afterwards, are you exhausted or energized?

If you are energized and wired up (outside of the influence of drugs, alcohol, etc.), you’re an extrovert.

If you’re mentally exhausted, you’re an introvert.
