Seems like these are just sound amplifiers that offer some filtering. Reviews on Amazon show 3.9 out of 5 stars overall but I think most people know that can be manipulated. Check out the 1 star reviews, which make up 16% of them.
I just bought some decent wireless in ear monitors (earbuds) that offer noise cancellation and an app that adjusts the sound to your hearing, features that these so called hearing aids don’t offer, and they cost me only $56. Buyer beware. Some of these companies are ripping people off by selling what is basically a tweaked pair of earbuds at ridiculous prices because the price of traditional hearing aids is so high.
I agree with @Bill3W…
I was able to use my Apple AirPods Pro (1st generation) in transparency mode for a couple of years for hearing assistance (I was even able to use my audiogram to “tune” them to my unusual needs), before I went ahead and got real hearing aids (for ~$2500).
The newer AirPods Pro 2 have even better capabilities than the ones I used and cost less than these amps.
I’d also recommend going to a hearing center for a free hearing evaluation — I’d stick with Sam’s Club or a Costco — if you think you need hearing help.
