R.I.P. Avalon Bay 3.7 Qt Air Fryer. Got this unit on Sep 2, 2020. Been using it most every day since. We love it and use it often. But Jan 1, 2021, it died. A faint smell of burning insulation and a partially cooked batch of French fries was the clue. After cooling down completely, I note that the fan above the cal rod coil does not turn freely any more. The culprit? Can’t be sure as yet as I haven’t disassembled it, but it would appear that grease is to blame. One would think grease and bearings would go together, but not this time, especially when that grease is partially unsaturated and forms a sticky film. This same film is a thick coating on the top of the unit, which can only be seen if one tilts it upside down (with the tray out of the machine, of course.)
