I have the older model of this in black. Works well if you set it up correctly. Scan your fingerprint as many times as you can in varying positions and you’ll avoid getting errors. It also doesn’t hurt to wipe the reader surface with a soft cloth from time to time.
Mine uses a single 9 volt battery. I bought a pricier Duracell Quantum battery and it’s been going strong for 3 plus years. Granted, I don’t open the safe everyday.
I use mine as a nightstand pistol safe. I actually gave the emergency keys to my parents and inlaws. Didn’t want to take the chance of the kids finding them.
A couple things you should know:
- This thing is not going to stop a determined thief.
- It is not fire rated nor is it waterproof.
