I have enjoyed Beehive cheese from past deals offered on woot! However, the posted descriptions should provide some information about the texture and flavor of the cheese for woot!ers who have not enjoyed these cheeses before.
Please try to arrange an offering with more Beehive selections like past woot! deals.
I really like their SeaHive, Barely Buzzed, Smoked Japaneo, and Apple Walnut. Is the TeaHive and Promontory right up that alley? Subtle, but not sharp, and a bit creamy?
yeah, its right up there. The Teahive im not the biggest fan of, it has a strong… herbal flavor is about as best as i can put it, and im not a huge tea drinker, so that might be it. The Promontory is the base to the other rub cheeses, just without any rub, so yeah it will still taste the same as like the Seahive, just without the extra rubbed flavors. I really like the Promontory myself.

Right there with you. People raved about TeaHive, but I don’t think I would order it again. The others have subtle flavor. This one to me was like eating cheese with the contents of an Earl Grey teabag stuck to it. I like tea, but this took some getting used to. It was less overwhelming to me after I had eaten some of it (maybe I’d gotten over the shock), but this deal is a pass for me. I’d buy any other flavor combo that didn’t include TeaHive. And for those who still have a pound of Promontory, make more grilled cheese sandwiches ;).
I’ll differ with the last two TeaHive comments. I’m something of a tea fanatic, so that’s my bias. I brew loose leaf teas daily. The TeaHive may be a taste acquired through much tea consumption. I particularly love TeaHive on plain or sweet potato Triscuits, slightly melted, with a dab of sugar free apricot jam (sugar free because more fruit flavored and less sweet).
My wife’s favorite tea is Double Bergamont from Stash so I imagine she’d love this cheese. Unfortunately the rest if the family is so keen on Earl Grey and doubt my wife could eat a pound of cheese by herself fast enough. Perhaps if in the future they offer it in small amounts.

i think thats the difference. And really im not bagging on it, if i didnt have a lb. of Promontory already in the fridge, id be in for more! Tea lovers will probably love TeaHive, someone like me who drinks tea when sick with honey and milk, and the occasional Lipton Iced Tea… well the herbal taste was too much for me… i still ate it, and would eat it again, but its my least favorite from BeeHive. And i have tried all of them and ordered from their main site since i got my first taste from a Woot.
I agree that the TeaHive is amazing. Promontory does lend itself well to applications like grilled cheese and mac n’ cheese, so I like having it around, but I’m still working on the wedge that I opened in December. TeaHive doesn’t last as long in my house.
I absolutely love Barely Buzzed and SeaHive and have ordered here the last two times they’ve been offered, so even though I haven’t quite finished off everything from my last order, I couldn’t let this opportunity pass me by. If TeaHive and Promontory are anywhere near as good as the others, I’ll be a happy camper.
Everyone has their preference yet seem to agree that Beehive makes some really good cheese! My favorites are Seahive, Smoked Jalapeno and Promontory. I don’t care much for the rubs on the Barely Buzzed and Teahive, often cutting the rub off to get to the unrubbed cheese.
Seems like it would make more sense to put the Barely Buzzed together with the Teahive and the Seahive with the Promontory, much as the two smoked cheeses are offered together.
