Anyone have experience with this? Some not so favorable reviews…

I hate Keurig and have the Hamilton Beach “The Scoop” which is similar, and works great— that runs about $50.
I’m sure this unit does the basic job of running hot water over the grounds and making coffee. The biggest downsides are going to be completely plastic construction inside (which some people can’t deal with), and the water temperature may not be optimal (hard to say).
For the price of 2 visits to Starbucks, it’s hard to go too wrong.
Look on YouTube for a review of an Aldi’s coffee maker and you can learn more.
According to information in reviews, this unit does not automatically shut off after brewilike our other/past single cup makers. Pushes this to a hard no for me.
For someone that only drinks one cup in the morning, it fits my needs. Usually I do French Press but cleanup gets old. Plastic internals isn’t ideal. An easy workaround to the machine always being on would be tk unplug it? I read another person’s review that if you want a really strong cup of coffee, this isn’t the right machine. I’d prefer to avoid anything that that uses those pods that get thrown away to landfills. I compost my grounds from the French Press
Likewise here. Some plastic parts, but the brew basket is stainless. The HB does have auto shutoff, won’t turn on if there’s no water, and even if one refills the reservoir while it’s brewing, it’ll still shutoff after a few minutes. Great safety features IMHO.
I did have one die from excessive buildup inside the boiler, though that was after years of daily usage at work. Since then, I’ve decalcified several more thrifted ones for standby and rotate it out every few months.
(Note that I am not staff. I just volunteer to help out on the forums.)

yea. I got one at a thrift store. Works really well. I use it as a back up though. Kinda hooked on my farberware percolator. The faberware is all stainless steel-no auto shut off though, but you can use a plug in timer. The ones used for Christmas lights and the like.
