Ugh, why are you doing this to me? I need this in 2-3-4 weeks, after I move, not today!
What is a functional sofa? Are all other sofas dysfunctional?
Super-futon I choose you!
Are these at all worth it, or should I just save up for a more conventional one?
You know where these would be awesome? When staging a home for sale! Rather than having to move big sofas around, this would be great. For daily use… I don’t see a lot of cushion in this couch. Probably not good for sitting or sleeping… but a very cool design!
Buying one just for the box…
I’m mean, how else does one get a really big box?

I bought a Serta Sofa in a Box from the mothership in 2016 and it looked nice but was brutally uncomfortable. The cushions were like rocks and the pillows that attach to the back were not soft and stuck out so far that if you wanted to sit back, you’d have to remove these fat pillows and put something thinner behind you. It just was not functional as “the” couch in the living room. Eventually, I ditched the cushions and back pillows and replaced the cushions with a long, memory foam mattress that I cut down from twin and put an additional piece across the back so you can actually sit comfortably. I still use it every day but that price, such modifications should not be necessary in order for it to be comfortable.
I think these things are best as staging furniture for home sales. Every day use, not so much. Maybe this one is better but I equated Serta with comfort and quality and it was the same price as this one and hoo boy, it was not comfy by any means.
You could leave it in the box until you move. ![]()
Save. You get what you pay for.
Got one last time. It is a heavy box and came very beaten up. In the box the areas(there are two dovetail shaped metal rods on both the sides)where you attach the side pieces are placed towards the outside and they were bent. I could fix it only to some extend and so the side pieces(where you keep your hand) don’t go all the way down.
Cushion has only a bit of give(it is like a thin foam) as it is hollow inside for storage.
Since it is split in half, the middle area is particularly a bit harder making laying down a bit uncomfortable(your butt area won’t sink in much)
Legs are plastic.
Came with two pillows/cushions.
It is good for short sitting periods.
I also got one of these the last time they were offered. Agree somewhat with @Schira. I think it’s relatively comfortable for what you pay but it’s not the most comfortable. It’s a good secondary couch. We have this in our living room where we don’t spend as much time. Our family room (with the TV) has the super comfy sectional.
As a sleeper, it is definitely not the greatest. Since the split is 50/50 for each side of the couch, when you lay across it the steel bars for the split/support are generally right in the middle of your back. If you’re tall, it’s a no go. If you’re average/short then you can kind of curl up so that your torso/hips are on one half and then your legs are on the other so the bar isn’t digging directly into your spine/hips.
This thing is pretty heavy. It does fold in half but with the arms inserted it becomes awkward. Also, it’s heavy. Like. HEAVY. As heavy as a regular couch (not a sleeper)? Probably close.
I didn’t have the same issues with the box being beaten up. The attachment pieces for the arms were a little bent, but I was able to get the arms on a little and straighten the piece enough to get the arm on all the way. I think they do this to make the arms stay on with pressure but it really makes it hard to get them on. shrugs
UHM… at the big box store. drops mic and run away
