Best Root Beer:
Hires Root Beer…haven’t found it to buy for years, but still my favorite all-time…
I can’t believe you forgot… that some people HATE root beer. Seriously. It’s a family joke how much I hate the smell and taste of the stuff. Don’t know why. Even the thought of it is making me gag. Blech!!
A and W.
Barqs would be a slam dunk amongst the major can categories if it wasn’t caffeinated. There are times when I’d like to enjoy a soda without a buzz.
Most of the time, a root beer from a glass bottle is going to eek out every other contender. Can’t think of those specific brands, but they haven’t steered me wrong thus far
I prefer Mug root beer. I don’t like A&W unless there’s ice cream in it. Ice cream makes pretty much everything better.
Virgil’s !!!
Root beer is pretty easy and fun to make. Maybe I should make some…

You know that thing where you stand up really fast and things get dark and woozy for a few seconds? But then things start to snap back into clarity both slowly and all at once? That awakening feeling is what it’s like to drink a cold Sioux City Sarsaparilla. Also, Snake River Sarsaparilla is so good it makes me forget about that bird from the other day. You know the one.
Glad I’m not the only one who remembers Hires!
Goose Island is my favorite root beer
IBC root beer, which comes in glass bottles, might be one of the ones you’re thinking of. It’s one of my favorites.
Henry Weinhards is really hard to beat.
Sprecher hands down the best. Ibc close second then barqs. Although A&W is best for mixing with Jagermeister.
Henry Weinhard
Henry Weinhard and Sprecher.
I have a 200 bottle root beer collection, it is definitely a regional brand business.
I’m 100% a Sprecher-head. Hands down the rootin’-ist, tootin’-ist root beer. Nothing comes close.
Agreed. IBC is the big name missing here.
Virgil’s. Ice cold, bottled. Heaven.
