Bionic Steel PRO Garden Hoses

Bionic Steel PRO Garden Hoses

I bought something similar that expands when water turned on. Poly Garden Hose it’s called and it killed the water pressure. Compared to a ⅝" hose this will have degraded water pressure and the size of the hole at the fitting is enough proof that’s it’s the same style of hose as the Poly Garden brand

I have tried all the “no kink/bend” and ultra heavy duty hoses over the years. I have killed or thrown many away in disgust. I even tried the fabric-looking expandable ones… a quick contact while extended with my rose bushes put an end to that.

I avoided these steel ones because they looked tacky and silly… but I ran out of brands to try. I have now converted over to all Bionic Steel hoses (total about 250’ of hose between several yard locations). I can’t speak for the other steel versions, but this brand has not failed me. They are technically narrower that the average hose, but I haven’t been bothered by reduced pressure. I no longer have to deal with twisted knots or other issues.

I would not recommend these for business or construction usage, but they are great for residential use. They have been popular enough that prices have been inflated everywhere for them, so these prices aren’t as bad.

Hello Larry, I know nothing at all about this hose, but… “the size of the hole at the fitting is enough proof” is not any proof of anything at all, especially when it’s a completely different product you are basing that on.

I contemplated buying but then I became concerned that water massively reduces resistance of wet skin and the steel is an electrical conductor instead of insulator. In an area where there may be outdoor electrical jacks that could be a mistake and then a disaster waiting to happen.

Review of a similarly constructed hose on Amazon does report user experienced electric shocks. YMMV but seems worthy of concern. It would seem that steel should be attractive for durability but it after all IS a conductor. The same user also said he had a materials failure and leakage. Others report leakage with this brand as well. Both have the steel outer shell.

Cross sectional lumen diameter, compliance of tube material, and length of run all contribute to flow rate.

If wall expansion is kept constant then diameter and length of run relatioships result in the following:

BIONIC STEEL PRO hose??? 90 day warranty??? really? joke for that price

Both hoses are clearly not ⅝" in diameter so it’s a no-brainer that both will have decreased water pressure. The other commenter’s graph explaining the gpm vs the hose size explains it well.
Here’s another example from another style of polyester hose with the same small diameter hole. Even if your hose is 1" in diameter if the fitting has that small of a output hole it will act as a “water saver” pressure reducer like the ones they have on shower heads and faucet aerators.

Yeah man, the size of the hole is very important.

as is the size of the hose

I contacted my cousin technical Tony and he reminded me to use the term “orifice”

These come with a 5 year manufacturer warranty, which is in the box. However, Woot will always provide a 90-day warranty.

Oh please, people! All this double entendre scattered and flying about, much like flying monkeys, and no one is going to point out that the graphic is showing both male and female fittings? All righty, then. I’ll do it.
There. Done. You’re welcome.
PS: I read the comments because I was considering the purchase of this garden hose.

So…hello there…

How ya doin’?

Do you have a female or a male orifices?

I don’t think you understand the difference between pressure and flow.

Changing from a larger diameter hole to smaller diameter hole is going to INCREASE the pressure but REDUCE the flow. The water saver feature in faucets is all about reducing flow (gpm).

Pressure or flow, whichever it’s technically called was reduced. I use a fireman’s hose nozzle which is noticably weaker when using a smaller diameter hose like this.

I have two of these and absolutely LOVE them. Water pressure is not an issue as some speculate. I use one of the wands where you can select “shower”, “jet”, etc and it’s amazing. So light and easy to wind up to put away. Highly recommend.

“…in the box”?
Anyone?
Anyone?

Depends what you’re trying to accomplish I guess. My pressure washer just puts out about 2 gallons per minute, which is really puny compared to a regular hose, but I’m not watering my lawn with it.

Me too! I think it is GREAT
