I had one of these and while it worked well, it worked too well. The super clean ring on my carpet made the rest of my carpet look dirty and dingy then I just ended up having to pull out the big cleaner to do the entire room anyway.
So while I do not recommend for the spots on carpet, since it works so well and only creates more work, I still recommend it to clean with the hand tool. It’s light, easy to carry and you dont get the random clean ring. It also works great if you happen to have stairs with carpet or stains on furniture and barstools.

We’ve had one of these for several years now. Between my 5 y/o son and my 10 y/o Miniature Pincer it sees weekly work.
Yes, agree on the “clean ring” thing, however if you use the hand tool you can “smooth” it out and make it more of a larger clean spot that’s not as apparent.
The hand tool is GREAT for furniture, I’ve cleaned entire pieces with this. It really does a good job of sucking dirt out… and the biggest plus of this tool - is…
Cleaning a car.
Yup, I’ve pulled out entire milkshakes from the back seat carpet. I’ve cleaned to the point of “new looking” automotive seat sets with 200,000 miles on them. It really does a great job.
I’ve found also that spraying the stained area with your favorite carpet cleaner, and then just filling the “clean tank” with HOT water works best in pulling stains up. Hot water works great by itself and never damages anything on the fabric.
I almost only use the hand-tool and manual mode.
The entire unit is easy to cart around, clean, and live with. Far better than a large upright cleaner.
Always clean (rinse) and drain both tanks before storage.
