Do these have that god awful rubber “sweat residue” that a similar speaker had a few weeks ago?

Manual makes no mention of the built-in mp3 player mentioned in the features.
Does it have one?
Manual also makes no mention of being water resistant (also listed in features).
Manual does say to not use a damp cloth to wipe the device.
Is it really water resistant?

Not listed on the mothership or Blaupunkt.com

Looking at the user manual, it appears to be charged by Micro-USB port which is really bad. Blaupunkt released a similar version of this boom box with led dancing lights in the front and that charged via USB-C. Is this possibly new “old” stock?

Takes Trans Flash cards? Wow, this thing must be ancient!

Blaupunkt went under in 2016, it’s just a brand licensed to anyone these days.

I wonder if that 8 hours of battery life was the promotional material at the time of release. because it’s already not great. lot of speakers have more than 20 hours

according to a cursory internet search, the name was purchased by a company called established Inc. It specializes in branding and licensing. not audio at all. looks like it just buys brands up and uses the names.

That’s not to say there’s no good products out there that our white label. I remember when the Motorola name was licensed for some generic smartwatch it actually turned out to be pretty good. But people should just be aware that sometimes The branding doesn’t necessarily reflect on the bones of the company.

for instance, audio Technica is now basically just a name. But the people that made it started their own Austrian audio company, a lot of people that were involved in its peak of enterprise.

I think some of the current Marshall speakers are similar in that sense where Marshall was sold and is basically now a brand name and an aesthetic design choice. I haven’t tried their speakers or headphones but they get good reviews. although good reviews are often hard to distinguish from paid ones these days

This Bluetooth/TF card/USB stick player is a pretty common Chinese circuit dropped into all kinds of shapes. The MP3 player part is purely sequential, you cannot select a song, but you can skip to the next. In most cases, when you turn it off and then on again it reverts back to song #1

The design has been kicking around for 10+ years. I bought a small one here on close out decorated with the flag of Chile! Same circuit, but the size varies on how big a speaker is inside, etc.

Blaupunkt went bankrupt in 2015, so it is just a name on another Chinese import with no connection to their long history.

Sound is OK for what it is.

Man, Blaupunkt made some killer car stereo receivers back in the day. For $30 these must be awesome!

If they do- Hard PASS! It took forever to wipe that thing down to get enough of the “sticky” coating off of it to evenbe able to tolerate touching it. This belongs in a B.O.C.

Has anyone bought one of these? Are they a decent quality and how loud do they get?

Mine was DOA and had the “rubber sweats”. Also, the box had been opened - not a new unit, as advertised.

TransFlash (TF) is just an older term for microSD; they’re the exact same thing, so the terms are fully interchangeable:

Motorola and Marshall both still exist as manufacturing companies that own and control their respective brands, so anything they license their names to that they don’t directly manufacture themselves presumably passes muster with the parent company well enough not to tarnish their brand for other products they do manufacture.

This is unlike, say, Nakamichi which went bankrupt and got sold off to another manufacturing conglomerate that now makes products under that brand which bear no relation to the original company, or Blaupunkt which briefly licensed their brand to Rockford Fosgate for a few years starting in 2012, before also going bankrupt in 2016, then sold off their brand assets to a holding company that doesn’t manufacture anything and only licenses the brand out to other manufacturers.
