Here’s the delio on the cleaning cartridge. They are expensive for sure, lasts about a month for me. I do more shaving than most because I shave my head and what happens is the cleaning process causes the clippings to clump up and eventually makes the shaver noisy so I have to then clean in the traditional way by removing the foil and shaking the clippings out defeating the purpose of the cleaning system. I would avoid their shavers that use this system as it’s a joke as it does nothing valuable.
That is totally misleading because they have a $10 coupon. Click the “Clip Coupon” button on the page, and the $10 off shows on your receipt. BTW, I did get the razor, but the same series without the Cleaning cartridge, the 340s-4, $47.99 after coupon.
I only have to charge/ clean about every 3-5 days nd I get about six weeks out of one. I ound replacement cleaning cartridges on amazon for about 25.99 for four,to the best of my memory.

I have the 7 series which uses the same cleaning cartridges. They don’t last that long because the alcohol evaporates, even when you aren’t cleaning the shaver.
They cost about $6.00 per cartridge.

You guys know, that the police won’t come kick in your door if you don’t use the cleaning cartridge :o)
I’ve probably gone through a dozen cartridges in the 6 or 7 years that I have owned a Series 3. I clean it maybe once a month with the system (just take the top off and brush out the whiskers daily). I also don’t leave the cartridge in the cleaning unit; I remove it and snap the lids back on - solves the evaporation problem.
As others have mentioned, the cleaning solution isn’t made with unobtainium, it’s just alcohol, glycerin, and a little lemon scent.
I prefer Braunschweiger. Also, I use the old fashioned safety razor, I’ll never go back to using electric shavers or the overpriced disposables. The only thing I might try it a straight razor, I hear those shaves are second to none, but I love my Merkur.

Also, after the upfront cost of a safety razor, the recurring charges are next to nothing. A new blade costs a few pennies.
I was a Braun guy for years, I tried Norelco for a while but never got used to the rotating blades. The thing that always bothered me with Brauns was the gradually slowing of the blades as the battery got low. Then along came Panasonic and for less money (not so big a difference now) you get a much better shave. The blades move much faster and keep there speed up all the way til the battery dies.
I won’t go back to Braun now and recommend you all give panasonic a try instead.
Thank you for your info, Wooters.
I am in the market for a shaver, but not this one.
Have you seen the recent Infomercial with the Old Fashioned Single Blade Razor being championed by a Shine-Head?
(I have a cheaper Braun. Got into just using the Trimmer most of the time for a “stubbly” shave.
Until the Trimmer fell off!
Now get a “clean” shave using the main foil but it takes a while…)
