I had a Braun series 3 for 10 years and loved it. I upgraded to this a few months ago and have regrets:

  1. It doesn’t shave any better than the series 3.
  2. It doesn’t catch the shaved hair like the series 3, it just sheds it all out around the base of the pivot so you end up with hair all over your shirt.
  3. It seems to be CONSTANTLY reminding me of some maintenance that needs to be done and the genuflections illustrated in the manual are far more frequent and complex than just rinsing the cutting head on the series 3,
  4. The cutting head costs twice as much as the series 3…for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Seems consistent with a very detailed review I found ( New Braun Series 7 vs The Original Series 7: Which One Is Better? • ShaverCheck which seems to conclude this is generally a downgrade from the previous Series 7. To be fair, I used an older Braun and then an older Panasonic for years, and they both shed clippings - surprised to hear the Series 3 doesn’t.

I just bought a new Series 6, it’s definitely the best foil razor I’ve had yet. I should have waited, this one is identical for less.

Thanks! I only use an electric on days off. The Model 3 is $36. Better than an unknown cheapie for $19.
