Brooklyn Brine Co. Pickles

I’m pretty shocked people didn’t like these.

I don’t care much for pickles, and I really have enjoyed them so far. The spicy are really hot, and the whiskey sour is really interesting.

I’m not as high on the NYC deli, but I’d take them over Katz’s, but then again, I think most NYC deli pickles are foul, so these might be deli flavor for people that don’t like most.

As I drive through the Gowanus section of Brooklyn on an almost daily basis, it does not strike me as the ideal place to produce edible food.
Lets hope the water used does not come from the Gowanus canal, that would make for some interesting flavors.

Perfect with an aged Paso Robles oaky white wine! Also, indistinguishable from an aged Paso Robles oaky white wine.

Just practicing my snark for the next wine I hurl at y’all . . .

I love pickles, but I have a super-wimpy California palate - an avocado is about the right amount of heat, so I don’t know about the ‘spicy’ version . . .

Excellent response. You must have calmed down a lot since being a chef - most of my chef friends would be yelling and throwing knives at the screen after some of the backtalk here. (Then again, they’re customers not sous chefs!!!) Thanks for answering questions.

quite the contrary, apple cider vinegar is considerably more expensive than the traditional salt and water pickle, and offers a much more consistent flavor profile. Vinegar pickles are a great way to explore new flavors which was my sole intention for starting this company, as a former chef I have always enjoyed creating new flavors with food, even pickles have room for new ideas and techniques and I hope that’s what we’ve proven! We use apple cider vinegar for it’s natural sweetness to balance the sour notes inherit in vinegar, our spice blends add a savory mid note which compliments the garlic flavor on your palate, rye whiskey, habeneros, black peppercorns, mustard seed, and chili flakes are all used for spice, but they also carry the overall flavor in each pickle.

Cheers!

I get the feeling these will be just as disappointing as the Krave jerky I ordered…Pass!

I am suddenly more glad than ever to be staff, so I know when to duck. (Would your next wine go with duck, btw?)

I was visiting my hipster Brooklynite daughter and her hipster Brooklynite bf last Spring. They turned me on to these pickles and they are awesome!

Thanks for offering something new! I love the Thursday woots. In for one.

I get these Pickles through an organic farm delivery. They are excellent!
I wish their saurkraut was offered–it’s outstanding!

I’ll add my two pennies.
My wife and I really like these; we got them from the last offer.
My favorite is the Whiskey, but all three taste great! The spicy is most certainly as advertised.

These were featured on the Modern Marvels Episode “Built by Hand” and I meant to look into purchasing them as they looked quite tasty .Never did get around to it and now I don’t have to worry. In for one.

@rileyper: How do you get coupons?

I’m not pickled about this deal at all.
Don’t know what’s up with Alaska, New Mexico, Idaho and the others.
In for one to give it a try.
Don’t mind supporting a man going for his dream to be Mr King Pickle of the USA

You didn’t ask me but I think I’m qualified to answer this one.

Coupons are generally earned in the following ways, from most common to least common -

  • over on deals.woot, through various forms of participation (frequently changes)
  • via moderator staff for various activities (often during woot-offs, but not limited to that, of course) (frequently changes)
  • via customer service for some reason or another (rare)

Note the criteria for earning a coupon is very flexible, and as such I can only generalize on how you may or may not get one.

Hope that helps.

I’m in for one.

I don’t know how much I trust the negative reviews here; one guy says they’re super bland and there’s no difference between the flavors, then the next guy says they suck because the spicy is too spicy, and the regular is too vinegary.

I have a 7 year old who is a pickle fiend, so I feel pretty comfortable with this; plus, I like supporting startups run by young people in today’s world.

I ordered these last time and I, too was disappointed. For over $10 per jug retail value, these pickles might as well have been Claussen crap. Very little flavor besides picante, and the “Damn Hot” were nearly indistinguishable from the “Whiskey Sour”, which were hot, not sour, and bore no resemblance to whiskey. And they all were slimey. Perhaps they got skunked in transit (I am in Texas). A good pickle should be crisp and firm, but not stiff or raw. For my money, I’ll take BaTampte any day over these Brooklyn yuppie fodder. Gus’s they’re not.

Cant wait for beer.woot.com

I can as my pocket book will be much bigger till that arrives.

Do the NYC Deli taste anything like the Nathan’s Famous dill pickles?

I have never tried these but friends have told me these are worth double the price. This is a great deal as you save just on shipping as well as about 30% on each bottle.

Ditto, but I’m not buying any. The reviews are too mixed for something I only like on occasion. I’m assuming the guy who said ‘bland’ meant ‘uninteresting’ and not ‘mild’.
