snagged one. particularly appropriate. My mom died a month and a half ago. Otters were her favorite…her bday was Sunday and mine is tomorrow. I’m taking this as my bday gift from her.

I seriously could put my foot through a wall when I can’t hit the button rightfully so earned my place in line for a BOC. I could possibly come unglued if it happens again. It’s all in. Good fun until the buttons get stuck.

I can’t believe I snagged one… on mobile, to boot! I must have refreshed at just the right time because I went straight to payment and had my confirmation email before the push notification of the BoC even popped up.

Want strategy for scoring BoCs? I’ve grabbed 52 of them in the last 12 years. I’m gonna offer this once, because this is how I do it. This only applies to Woot-Offs.

  1. Spend the woot-off day on your computer, not your phone. I’ve almost never scored trying from a phone.
  2. Plan to spend most of your day on the Clearance page. Maybe you can get some work done in another window, but keep an eye on that page.
    3… and this is important. Log out and back on EVERY 15 minutes. You do NOT want to get stuck having to log in again after hitting the buy button.
  3. Watch that percentage counter. Some items sell quickly, others take forever. If something is selling quickly, I’d start reloading the page (pound that F5) at, like, 10%. If something is slowly selling, I wait until it gets to 3% or so.
  4. Keep your cursor in the general area of the Buy Now button so you can start the process as soon as the BoC loads. And then complete the process as quickly as possible.
  5. If you get stuck in the VoP, stay there. I once got a bag after 15 minutes of waiting.

And that’s it. It isn’t that hard. I don’t get one every time, and sometimes I get stuck in the VoP, and I’m usually disappointed one way or the other, but hey, it is what Woot is.
