Buyer beware:
Be aware of this device’s limitations. It is marketed to and best suited for children and those with very limited requirements and expectations.
For $17.15 one shouldn’t expect an iPad or Galaxy Tab alternative.
Wonder how well it would work as a kitchen counter terminal, easy to run Google Home and control music, lights, view the front (Nest Hello) doorbell. I’ve been tempted to get a used Pixel tablet with base for just that purpose, rather than a Google Nest Max or whatever it’s called. (I bought a Nest Max “Open Box” from Woot last year, but it would not configure, wouldn’t factory reset either. DOA.
I was sad. Of course Woot CS took care of me.)
It is reportedly very slooow…
For Kitchen, your better bet is an Amazon Fire tablet. I put hand on a 7" one last year for about half the price of this one but hard to get that price all the time. Right now Woot has 10.1" for $40 and seems there is a $5 discount also (You should see the comments under current deal). You have access to Alexa that can solve a lot of problems, especially for kitchen and if you are willing to get into that eco system.
Advantages of Fire: Better monitor resolution, faster CPU, more RAM (3 vs 2 here). Cons: No direct Google play access for some apps. Probably more expensive but for a higher model on sale right now.
They do go on sale often an BF is at hand.
Also look for 7" Onn tablet in Walmart, if you have to stay with Android or look at their Chinese no-name/Unknown name tablets there and they have plenty.
But I say specially for Kitchen, having Alexa is a big plus and Fire is a good choice.
Fire tablets go on sale whenever the mothership has a bigger event. I upgraded my 2019 10" (that I bought here at Woot as a S&D) to a new 2023 around Prime Day when Amazon was offering a good trade in value, an extra $20 discount on a new one, and it was on sale.
How good? Well I was up $5 trading in the 2019. ![]()
