Buy more than one, children lose hats. I lost dozens of hats and caught hell every time, so often that I learned to go hatless in winter before Jack Kennedy made hatlessness fashionable. Carhartt labels can be removed with great care and manicure scissors (the ones you use on your child). Be aware that there is a triple stitch in one corner to keep you from doing just that. Once you cut the triple stitch in two places, the rest is smooth sailing.

The triple stitch where the sewing machine goes back-and-forth is a common way of “locking in the stitching.” Nothing to do with preventing “label abuse.” (I also remove labels, eg on the inside of collars where the material chafes.)
