Chaucer's Mead Trio
Is it just me, or does that picture feel almost deliberately misleading? The raspberry bottle looks the same size as the other two, yet the description states that it’s a 500 mL as opposed to the 750 mLs. I suppose it’s clever, but it feels a bit disingenuous.
I don’t think so. The raspberry bottle looks much more slender than the other two. It is the same height, but just thinner. I think the picture does it justice.
Yep… $10 a bottle at most places… I don’t see the bargain either. I should have bumped last weeks order from 2 to 3. =(
I wish I could find this for 10 a bottle. It’s 14-15 everywhere around here. I bought the same trio from woot last year and was very happy with it. I think it’s certainly a fair price.

wow this is not a deal

out 2 weeks in a row … disappointing

Ack, I clicked the button before I even knew what I was doing… But now I get to try to raspberry mead. I’m a huge fan of mead so this’ll be fun.

PS - My boyfriend found my stash on Friday. Oops.

PPS - I have a job.

Congratulations! It’s always a good thing to have a source of income! And coming out of school, with debts looking large…well, sufficient income to cover all of the needs and some of the wants is PRIME!

Now the question: Is it in your field - or at least related?
Can someone tell me or point me in the direction of a mead primer. I don’t really know anything about it. How is it made, best way to consume, maybe even a cheap one that I can find at the speciality spirits store so I know what I’m getting into before wooting this.

thanks in advance.

Mead (IPA: /ˈmiːd/) is a fermented alcoholic beverage made of honey, water, and yeast. Meadhing (ˈmɛ.ðɪŋ) is the practice of brewing honey. Mead is also colloquially known as “honey wine”.

Can we get some wineries in here that will ship to NJ??? My Woot Wine stash has dwindled and I would love to stock up again. Every week I get excited to see the new woot wine… then I scroll down to see no NJ on the list. I don’t even mind the tediously long delivery times because they haven’t been that long.

What, no olallieberry?
I enjoyed that olallieberry, so did my mother. Can’t wait to try the mead!

Okay, let’s review:

 1. possibly BRITAIN / British (East New BRITAIN and Ipswich in Great BRITAIN)

 2. Physician’s friend

 3. Parson’s pal

Guess: Chaucer’s Cellars by Bargetto Winery
Dessert Wines

http://www.bargetto.com/chaucers.shtml

also: http://www.chaucerswine.com/

“The distinct taste of these wines can be enjoyed in the tradition of Medieval England. In the spirit of Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, experience these unique wines as a pilgrimage in sensory delight.”

The Canterbury Tales had both a Physician and Parson telling tales.

md, your skills never cease to amaze.

Whew, this week’s offering makes my decision easy and eases the strain on the wallet. Got no interest in this sort of purchase. Will be easy to wait to see what shows up next week.

Ditto that.

I keep thinking of Harry Potter and friends at Diagon Alley.

When this was in the woot-off about a year ago now (this very trio), the mead came with mulling spices and instructions. I’d imagine that was standard and will be included with this bunch. The winemaker can verify.

Warm mulled mead is very tasty, particularly on a cold winter night. Not that we’ve been having many of those lately on the east coast.

A pass on this week. Would like to see a come again on the Three Rivers Washington Red Mini-Vertical Duo!

hl, I’m pretty sure that this is available at Total Wine and I know it’s at the PA state stores. Stay here in the forums and read what labrats and the winemaker have to say. If it’s agreeable, get thee to ye local wine shoppe and buy it there. Come back and tell us that you’ve done so.

That’s what they call a “soft sale.” It doesn’t add to wine.woot’s bottom line directly, but it does let the winemaker know that being here affects product sales positively and his/her participation is just as important as the offering itself.

On the shipping instructions it showed 2 and 2. That would be a nice suprise.

Yumm! Thank you! From a white wine girl, trapped in a red wine world; meade is lovely, and will be thoroughly enjoyed by me! =)

I’ve had mead before and enjoyed it, but the pomegranate wine from Chaucers left me wanting (more pomegranate and less tomato). Considering there’s a few good bottles of mead at my local liquor store for around the same price I’m going to take a pazzzzz on this one.

a lot of different views on this one for both enjoyment and cost. mead at renaissance festivals/fairs is fun. wish this week was a port offering instead (especially a few months after the kent rasmussen sousao woot).

I was tempted not to get this, as I’ve never had mead. Then I remembered a time a long time ago, when I had never had red wine. I went out on a limb and tried it. Our eyes met, and we have been lovers ever since.

In for 1.
