My local delivery drivers would probably laugh in my face if I asked them to use one of these. My USPS delivery guy already just throws my mail at my door from the bottom of my porch steps as it is.

Maybe leave it open and they just push it shut?

Can’t imagine how many critters would make a home in that if you left it open…including small children.

This would be better for small businesses/churches since delivery drivers are instructed not to leave packages at the door of a business. I may order this for our church.

I bought this exact item at Costco for about the same price. The only issue with it is the touchpad is in a difficult place to use, and the numbers aren’t well separated, so it’s unlikely that the first time you enter the code that you will get it right. Otherwise, it’s a decent item for the price. Full assembly required as it’s flat packed.

I’ve been looking for something to store birdseed outside, wonder if this is the solution. Critters always find a way to eat through the plastic deck boxes.

No need to leave it open. Actually you create a profile on UPS, FedEx, USPS, and Amazon. Leave the desired code you choose in the special delivery instructions which will then show to the delivery person on their transponder. The link below walks you thru the process

I bought one of these from Costco for $10 more a few month’s ago and LOVE it. It does need to be bolted down to concrete (no big deal). It also comes with 2 sets of keys if the keypad battery goes dead which is good. This is def worth the $$ for peace of mind if you are concerned about porch pirates.

The code can be changed. Use & Assembly - CleverMade

LOL.If you actually believe busy delivery people will take the time to punch in a code read the reviews on Amazon.

If this was available before I bought BoxLock, I would have gotten this. This is simplier to use for the delivery people. All the carriers has been mostly conscientious in delivering to my BoxLock and eager to help prevent porch pirates.

I love this idea, and it’s almost too cheap not to buy, but I just know that my delivery people will not use it. I will have to stay with my porch video monitoring. So far, no porch pirates. The Amazon people especially are so underpaid and so under the gun. If it’s not required, they are not going to do it.

I have considered just putting something like an unlocked footlocker on the porch, with a sign on top asking for packages to be put inside – then it won’t be visible to passers by. They would probably just put the package on top of the footlocker (like a display) and take a picture of it.

Within two seconds of watching that video i realized no delivery person will ever use it.

I worked for AmazonFlex delivery in the past…when I had deliveries to boxes of this type (usually out in the country, peeps homes way away from the road/gate and don’t want driver’s on their property) I WOULD use the box, take appropriate pics showing customer’s items were IN their box, make any delivery notes (for time purposes) and move on…peeps who DON’T use the boxes, IMO, are usually too lazy, or are waay behind in their deliveries! I no longer do AmazonFlex, too much headache, low pay, and too much warehouse “politics”, for my liking…(esp being a woman of a certain “age” and sticking out like a sore thumb!) I seemed to make allll the young’uns “nervous”, as I did MY j.o.b., and did it well…
anywho, yall DO know you CAN report the AMAZON driver’s, if/when your deliveries are NOT done correctly!!?? if you don’t, it will only continue! if you DO, it thins the herd!!
But, I like the idea of an outside backyard box to deter the “wildlife” (hehe) The squeeedals in our yard are a brazen bunch!! Even tho we have 2-GSD’s, the squeeedals still think they own the area!! And I would luv to be able to keep some of my yard stuff closer to the house, than in our little shed…may have to give this thing some serious thought!!

This is something I had often wished for when I was a homeowner…but, now it would be nice if I could do this as an apartment (actually, an independent living facility) dweller, though I think the landlord wouldn’t want me bolting it to the floor of the hallway (common area.) Though the front desk sure would like it if the delivery people would leave stuff at my front door (I’m disabled, so they’d rather the delivery person complete the delivery then having to do it for them.)

But, I have my delivery instructions for deliveries to come to my frontdoor. And, the frontdesk has often asked delivery people to take things to my frontdoor. But, Amazon delivery people have straight out lied to front desk people claiming that the instructions are for them to leave my packages at the front desk. I’ve spoken to CS numerous times, and they keep assuring me that its on record that they’re to deliver directly to my apartment… And, marking the delivery as failing to follow instructions and being unprofessional doesn’t seem to change anything.

But, I do make it a point to praise the delivers to do show up to my door…but of course, the system then anonymousizes the praise, so they’ll never know when they did the right thing or didn’t.

So what happens if I order this and it gets stolen?

Thats a bad day!

I just am here to comment that I LOVE the fact the person who wrote the description for this product:

“
Get your very own mimic, now with non-biting action!

What looks like a loot box and magically opens with a single touch? A Mimic Lockbox! Now you get to come home everyday and find TREASURE! And by “treasure” we mean mail and by “magic” we mean digital keypad. YAY!”

Is very obviously a Borderlands 2 fan - specifically a fan of the ‘Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragons Keep’ DLC :ok_hand:t2::relieved:

:grinning: :grinning: :grinning: That’s exactly what our Amazon folks do. We have a big plastic bin right by the front door, and nine times out of ten the package goes on top of the bin or even next to it.
