I think the designer saw a picture of sometime from the 80s with those sholder pads, you remember the ones? And thought that’s how people are shaped.

See and here I thought it does look comfortable because it actually fills the gap between her neck and shoulder when sleeping on your side, like I do. Laying on your back, however, might be a different story…
