Craftsman Titanium Step Drill Bit

Craftsman Titanium Step Drill Bit

Is this used as a starting bit ? It certainly is unable to drill a 1/4 X 1 inch hole in wood. Seems like you would have to always have two drill bits to complete the job - one to start and one to finish.

Step bits are used for drilling metal not wood.

They’re probably best for drilling “thin” (thinner than the step distance) pieces that don’t have anything you don’t want drilled behind them. For example, if you wanted to drill a 3/4" hole in something thin, you’d have to push the bit through whatever might be behind the piece.

I have not found anything better then one of these step drill bits to drill a hole in Plexiglas or lexan. I do not see where is gives the thickness of meterial to be drilled but I guessing less then 1/4’’

Anyone else, get your money refunded on this. Is this cancelled???
