This thing is a bulletproof beast. I added a NVIDIA Quadro 4000 (4-4k monitor support) and created the ultimate trading computer. I use it daily and it never crashes.
How would this machine do running most steam games. I’m not a big gamer but my kid likes to play. Will this run most steam games without issues?
It wouldn’t do well with most Steam games unless you upgraded the graphics card. But at that price it’s worth it.
Playing older games at minimal/low settings, or less-demanding games, it will probably be able to squeak by. Adding in a low-power GPU, like an Intel Arc 380 or a GTX 1650 ($100-150) will be a night-and-day difference.
I had a similar system (i5-8400, 16GB, Win11Pro) and it ran great. I added a low-end Nvidia GT1030 (limited by power supply) and I played Stray very well. Ran my Plex server great, too.
Thanks for the comments so far. ![]()
I didn’t plan to buy Dell again because of the low-capacity power supplies with proprietary interfaces I’ve seen in some of my past machines. But this deal seems really good and I have a dog of a machine which only has onboard graphics that I want to replace, so I’m in for 1.
I also have an old GTX 750 Ti video card with 60w max draw. According to page 21 of the technical guidebook, up to 75w graphics cards are supported by the 300w power supply so I’ll slot that in.
Is the power supply standard or proprietary? To add a decent video card it should be upgraded.
A BIG THANK YOU to Woot. Finally, after asking for YEARS, a photo of the back of the PC to verify and check out ports. THANK YOU. FYI, I think this is a killer deal! Add a video card if you want OR just use it as is for a great experience.
I am tech-less. I have no problem buying refurb. How will this perform for daily task, i.e. email, light web surfing, remote work, etc.
I should add that my current Dell refurb cannot be upgraded to Windows 11. I am told an upgrade, eventually, is a must.
These are actually standard 24 pin ATX!
Bus powered is okay with the standard 300w, anything more will require a PSU upgrade.
More than sufficient. If you don’t need the expansion, an 8th gen or newer SFF or mini can work too.
With that said, W10 is still fully supported until October 2025, if your current computer is still sufficient, keep running it until then.

An inconsistent description: says “no optical drive” but the graphic certainly shows a CD tray (either that or an expensive cup holder).
Hello. We use stock photos so make sure you go by our specs.
Tempting. Unfortunately, I already have too many computers.
“too many computers”??? Does not compute. One can never have too many computers… ![]()
I got my shipment this week and just got it set up tonight. Turned it on and Windows 11 setup went smoothly.
The machine is in used but good physical shape. A few scratches but nothing untoward. The tower has a goofy hinge mechanism to get at the interior. Overall I might prefer a more standard screw-based entry but it is pretty neat that no tools are needed for this.
This machine has a speaker onboard. Wasn’t expecting that.
Although I read upthread that no optical drive was included mine has an apparently fully functional DVD writer (reads fine, didn’t actually try to write). Thanks woot!
I installed my video card and it works fine. I tried to add a couple more RAM sticks I had lying around as well but it didn’t like those. Maybe they’re too different than the RAM supplied, or maybe I screwed something else up. Whatever, 16GB should be plenty for the basic use I expect.
I haven’t used the machine for much yet but at this point I am very happy with the features, condition, and value of the unit.
As these are workstations, the stock memory might be unbuffered ECC.
It will not take registered ECC sticks, which are common for servers.
It will take standard desktop non-ECC unbuffered sticks, but it will not allow mixing – it’s either all ECC U-DIMM or all non-ECC U-DIMM.

thanks @Narfcake I bet you are right.
The boy has run Minecraft fullscreen and gives the new computer full passing marks, so we’re all set.
