I bought these but how do I know they are genuine dewalt and they are covered by the 3 year warranty? Please, no response from woot. I donāt trust woot any more than I trust amazon. I find that everything I buy on amazon, warranties and support are usually never honored.
Well, youāll need to register the warranty after you get them. Theyāll have a serial number that Dewalt should be able to verify and youāre covered with the Woot return policy should anything go wrong.
Iāve never received a counterfeit item from here and I do buy a lot from Woot.
(Please Note: Iām not employed by Woot, but I volunteer to help in the forums.)
Thanks. afaik, woot is amz but with a different biz model and stricter return policy but the stock comes from amz and Iāve been burned before on amz with counterfeits. I have about 300$ worth of batteries I just bought on amz and all were counterfeits and they didnāt even look like the batteries pictured on the site. I just purchased these too in the past couple of weeks and now amz is being a real pia about returning them and they donāt seem to care they are counterfeits. And, Iāve been burned many times re warranties. This is my first battery purchase with woot so weāll see but buying dewalt is really a problem because many counterfeits look very good and have genuine product numbers, qr and so on. Woot ships me batteries that arenāt packaged and sealed, and donāt look like the ones on the product page and donāt look genuine at all, Iām going to be pretty woot about it.
Woot is an independent subsidiary of Amazon. They have other vendors. Hereās how you can tell if your item will come from Amazon.
See, on this listing thereās no āfulfilled by Amazonā notice.
On this listing the pods are being shipped from Amazon.
Iām not sure if thatās correct all the time though. I really donāt work here. But they do have good customer service and thatās why I trust them. Buying online is a crapshoot anywhere you shop.
Hi there. Our vendors source directly from manufacturers or from reliable sources. Weāve been selling the DEWALT line for quite a while with no issues.
Ok, well, I got these today but I canāt contact dewalt for a few days and Iāll report what they say but these donāt look like genuine so far. Itās hard to tell just by looking. You have to look at the manufacturing and do a load test to tell for sure. But, genuine batts, 5ah, like others I have, use security screws to hold the case together and these donāt. The screws arenāt even very good. Theyāre not beveled right which makes taking them off difficult. Plus, my genuine batts have copper contacts and these donāt. They also donāt look like the batts pictured on woot and not packaged the same either. These batts came wrapped in plastic bags not a blister pack.
It didnāt help also that they were delivered by ups. Guy dropped the box getting out of the truck, onto concrete. The box was pretty torn up as well. My experience with lithium batteries is that you bang them up and they donāt survive very well. You wonāt see any outward damage but they just donāt survive that well, just like humans. Guy drops the batteries on my driveway and then laughs about it all the way to the door. UPS is the worst where I live.
I also forgot to mention that they shipped the wrong charger model too. What gives woot.
Hi there. Sorry for the problems. If DEWALT isnāt able to assist you, reach out to Woot! Customer Service. To speed things up, let them know if you prefer a return/refund or a replacement (if possible).
Please allow 24-48h for them to respond.

So I contacted dewalt by phone and they said the batteries are genuine and should be covered by warranty so weāll see. Wonāt really know unless they fail and I need the warranty, or I void the warranty and take them apart and test. They also said that my concerns about how the batteries look were due to manufacturing changes which is crazy because they donāt look like batteries I know are genuine. There is another issue to but Iām not going to followup but I did comment to customer service. 1) I was sent a different model charger. Just compare the box images and description to the website. 2) I was sent different looking batteries. Again, you can tell just by comparing the batteries on the box with the website. Theyāre not the same. Iām referring to wood because they should be able to compare. This issue with dewalt batteries is a pia to the max because itās very difficult to tell just my looking no matter what anyone claims, even me. Plus, in my experience, anything lithium can last a long time or fail in a short time so the warranty and genuineness (?) is key, as well as safety and performance. Dropping them on concrete like ups did, can also shorten the life but I canāt explain why because Iām not an electrical engineer. And Iām also funny in that I like to get what I paid for so I get shipped something that looks different on the website, it rubs me the wrong way. Seems to me that woot should be more careful.
btw, I went to dewalt to check out how to get warranty service and the links on the page to the form you have to fill out are all broken. I know this is woot, not amazon but all the time I find that manufacturers/sellers always have some excuse not to honor the warranty; sometimes they just say itās because of where you bought it. By āall the timeā I mean that Iāve never had one yet honor a warranty and usually they just ignore you. I should call them and follow up but Iām fed up. Iāll just take dewalt at their word but if they donāt honor the warranty I shouldnāt be surprised.
