I’m sure there are a lot of scenarios where these things are super useful. Camping, triage and so on. But for some reason, the first thing that came to mind when I saw these was… jail/prison. Not that I have 1st hand experience and they probably don’t use these since they can be broken down for “parts” but yeah.
We’ll roshambo for top bunk!
I have this bed with the Cabela’s name on it. I got them because I’m 6’4 and I didn’t want my feet hanging off of whatever I slept on. These were just what I needed. They have plenty of room to roll around on and can support a lot of weight. Their only drawback is that they weigh a ton so don’t expect little Jimmy to carry them to the campsite for you. I’d buy them again if needed but I don’t think I’ll ever need to replace them which isn’t something you can say about a lot of cots.
Costco is running a similar deal. For $249.99, you get the leg extensions and foot pads.
The leg extensions are nice to give the bottom bunk a some more space. They do however make the bunks slightly wobbly. On the Cabela’s version I own they have stabilizer bars to address this which is missing from this and the Costco version. The footpads are nice if you plan to use them in a tent. They keep the legs from sinking into the ground, which isn’t a huge problem to begin with because the curved bottom of the legs. You can buy both of these items separately if so desired…
