I have: a chest freezer in the garage; refrigerator upstairs in the library; refrigerator freezer on the back porch, and refrigerator, freezer, water dispenser in the kitchen.

it all started when our 4 yo fridge decided to die (compressor failure) It was under warrantee, so free repair. But, it would be a week to get parts. “Due to covid” that week turned into 2 months. We picked up a smaller one to keep food in for the time. The warrantee partially paid for it, because of the delay. So it sits in the back of the garage and we keep extra stuff like beer, ice cream, pizza, and other sale items that we wouldn’t usually buy, but now have extra room for in the second fridge.

My old work had a spare “household” fridge in the break room left over from our old building that nobody really used. They had picked up a huge commercial fridge and separate commercial freezer for the new, fancier office.
Right around that time, my wife and I didn’t have much money and our fridge died. I stayed a little late at the office one day and ran into the owner and asked him about that old fridge in the break room. He said, “you know what, go ahead and take it… Just do it over a weekend when people aren’t here working so they don’t ask questions.”
We used that old fridge for 2 or 3 years at our old house… and it is still going strong in the garage at our new house 10 years later. It does indeed house the beer/wine… as well as random frozen stuff that we stock up on when it’s on sale. There’s usually some mix of sodas and random other kid-friendly drinks in there as well.
