Screw Duracell. Every time I’ve bought their batteries, I end up losing some piece of electronics to leaking acid. So far I’ve lost two Xbox 360 controllers, a Rock Band 2 guitar and a couple remotes.
I’ve had better luck with Panasonic alkaline batteries, but really you can’t go wrong with Energizer Lithiums.
Never had any complaints using duracells. Also never had an issue with exploding batteries unless I put the electronic away and left the battery in it for a long time. (My Bad) In for one!
I bought these batteries a few months ago and so far every package I’ve opened has contained dead batteries (over half of them so far!)… extreme waste of my money!

I would have normally been like “what is this guy nuts” in relation to the panasonic batteries, but with duracell (luckily I had no leaking issues) but I bought their duracell quantum batteries and they lasted probably 1/3 of what my CHEAP panasonic batteries did, in many different electronics.

Alkaline batteries leaking acid? That’s a neat trick.

Duracell 2/40pk of AA is $14.99 at Costco .
So if you spend $29.99 you’ll have 160 instead of 100 here .
Not a good deal Woot .

Bad math. It’s $14.99 for 40 batteries at Costco, or $.375 per batter as it says on their page ( http://www.costco.com/.product.516590.html ). So for $29.98 you get 80 batteries, instead of the 100 you get from Woot!

the Costco deal is $14.99 for 40 and you must buy at least 2. It’s not 80 for $15. .375 per battery at Costco. less than that here though I didn’t figure in the shipping.
All alkaline batteries eventually leak if you leave them in a device for too long.
We’ve had it happen with every single commonly available brand. Every one. Even Duracell ProCells leak.
Since Costco was mentioned above… we’ve had very good experience with their Kirkland batteries. Some folks claim they are made in a Duracell plant - no idea if that is true. But they are cheap and work well.

Well gang, at the risk of reviving a dead thread, my package arrived yesterday (8-9-14) in the following condition:
While we’re talking batteries here which are pretty darned tough…
… c’mon Woot, you guys can do better than this.
I think that someone skipped “Properly Packing Bulk Heavy Items For Shipping” day at box stuffing school.
This pretty much explains why the main box sounded like an overgrown baby rattle.
In the big scheme, no damage done.
The batteries simply attempted to organize a breakout and escape from their cardboard cells.
Get it? Cells? [cough]
Luckily the tape on the outer box held.
Hmmm… tape… a novel concept that could have been utilized on the inner boxes.

Sorry for the late reply and to see that you received your order in that condition.
If you haven’t already, please email into support@woot.com and let them know what’s happened.
They’ll be more than happy to help resolve the issue.
