A few years ago I bought one of these (not from Woot) and it lasted most of one winter. One day it just wouldn’t power on. Typically on these kinds of units it’s either the tilt switch or overheat protection circuit that goes out. I didn’t care enough to take it apart and find out, I just replaced it with a ceramic heater which has lasted three winters now. I’m not saying “don’t buy this” but just be aware that most if not all of this type of space heaters are subject to safety circuits that can fail. The good thing is that they are designed to fail in a way that they will simply not let the heater work without them. You can replace the circuits or just replace the whole heater as I did.
This is listed as a 1500W heater, but with only 4600 BTUs. Any other 1500W heater lists 5120 BTUs, so something is off here. 4600 BTU would be the output from 1348 watts, and I doubt the fireplace effect is using 152 watts.
Did you calculate the power needed for the “realistic flame effect”?
Notice no power cord shown in any of the photos. I’m wondering how the flames are showing in the photos without a power cord visible. A little deceptive advertising.
Manufacturers hate showing power cords for some reason.
Because they’re unattractive and remind consumers of the limitations of where the unit can be used.
