Dyson DC18 Slim All-Floor Vacuum

It works well on any floor, but if you don’t have any carpet- then this may be a little overkill- the only really great feature then would be the telescoping handle- which will get the dust and stuff from high places in those hard to reach corners.

I use mine in every room though- carpet, wood and laminate floors

So far so good for me… I have just under 2000 sqft of wood floors. I bought the Slim because it’s small enough to handle the few rugs we have (plus the telescoping handle gets every nook and cranny – high windows and such).

Anyway, I use it on the wood floors about once a week. If anything, I think this is better than most because it lacks the hard wheels some vacuums have. Instead it’s got a ball it rolls on that doesn’t leave any dents or marks.

So with all that said - works well!

So I am confused. Wouldn’t the maximum reach be the same as the cord length? Am I missing something here?

I got this Dyson a month or two ago when Woot debuted the Slim… only, I paid $20 more… I would totally buy this if I didn’t already. My Dyson totally SUCKS, and does it ever suck powerfully! It’s much lighter than I thought and it’s perfect for carpet and hardwood. The only gripe I have is that the attachments kind of suck, too, but in a bad way - they are somewhat limited in their use. Anyway, go ahead and pull the trigger - you know you want one!

Telescoping tube stretches out super far.

I have 2 cats and 1 dog, both carpet and non-carpeted floors. Is this worth it? I had been wanting the Animal version but can’t afford it.

My dad bought this at Bed Bath & Beyond with a 20% off coupon. Costed him $360 something after the discount, but that one was new with a 5yr warranty. $260 here is much cheaper, but refurbed with only a 5mo warranty (or so).

It’s a wonderful product. Well built, and is actually fun to use. This is one of Dyson’s slimmest model. Easiily manuevered by one hand, and really does have great sucking power. If it catches a loose strand of curtain or carpet, a safety automatically shuts off the rotating brushes inside. The removabel handle is a hose component that’s nice for vacuuming small spaces and table tops. I’m tempted to get this, but I hardly use my $50 dirt devil as is

This model new retails for $480 RSVP.

This is my second Dyson Vac. The first (bought as a refurb online 4 years ago) is still running great. I am amazed each time I vacuum that my house could possibly be so dirty! This baby is going upstairs so I don’t have to carry it up and down - or should I say so my daughter’s don’t have to :)!

I ordinarily enjoy Woot’s humorous product descriptions, but making light of deadly disasters seems rather distasteful and unfunny.

the maximum reach would be about double the cord length, plus the reach of the vacuum itself.

I was amazed at the fine dust my Dyson picked up off my wood floor. After I had swept, too!

i’ve bought pallets full of return items before. 99% of the time they work fine, the buyer had remorse, and couldn’t return it because it had been over the 30 day period or what not, but they did buy the extended warranty so they make stuff up to return it. I bought a pallet full of Escort 8500 radar detectors for $500, a total of 10 of them. Had to unscrew apart, readjust volume wheel (tighten it), and put back together. Sold each for $200 each. No complaints. People just want an easy way out of a buy they thought they wouldn’t want to return…Check it out…liquidation.com

We received the ‘Animal’ as a gift. It’s great on the carpet but I can’t get it close to the cats.
Don’t know why Dyson says ‘good for animal hair’?
.

LOL If hubby buys it I will be sure not to chase the pets around the house.

This is the best vacuum I have ever owned. We have the dyson animal and it picks up dirt I never knew was there. Well worth the price. Just don’t overfill the canister because it will ruin the motor. But there are no bags to buy and it is easy as pie to empty. Go for it! You will not regret it.

I hate cats too, but even I would not try to suck them up through that tiny hose! Shame on you!

This was my first Woot purchase last time out. I have been very pleased with it so far (and a little grossed out at what it picks up!). I would definitely recommend.

I have a few Q.s could you try to answer them if you’re a scientist or marketing person?

IF Dyson makes such good machines which solve most of vacumming’s problems why
are there many models of them?

This is a serious question. I’m a thinking person and maybe I’ve not thought this through.
But I do think it’s a serious and in depth question which deserves thought.

One can say, Well no product is a complete solution to everything.

But how many of Dyson’s products are gimmics?

Like the Ball and if it’s so great why offer anything else to roll them around?

They do focus on the centrifugal force way of capturing dirt. In high technology
industrial locations where lots of dirt woould cause lots of problems with clogging
the centrifugal method of capturing dirt IS the best. I agree with it.

Tell me something however. Why don’t we see a much lower price for this product?

I do think i read something about the motors being made by a highly precision company
which is long and well known for its quality motors. I understand that things cost less
however when you make more of them.

Why haven’t the cost of this product dropped more?

TIP: check out Nextag . but watch how you search, and you’ll find great charts to show you
the price treands of any products. Again however if you type in

XYZ vacuum and see a chart you might type in

XYZ power vacuum and see a totally different product and it can be confusing. It can take a lot of work to make Nextag work properly for you. in order to develop REAL meaningful figures
on prices.

Another example. Typing DDR memory 512mb is not the same as typing DDR 512 mb memory

The 512mb and 512 mb can take you to entirely different products depending on how the manufacturer of the prouduct decided to name their product.

You’ll have to do a lot of comparing and writing down if you use Nextag. Although I think
you’lll be OK when it comes to these vacuums partially because there simply are not that
many models nor different ways to describe them.

Good luck.

Can anyone answer my Q’s ?

Some people don’t have the $250 to actually own one so they buy it, try it, and
take it back feeling as if they got something for free. Maybe some entertainment.

That’s why.

Due to federal law you can’t sell something as new if it’s every been used. So it’s sold as fefurbished.

In my case I’ve bought things I wanted to try but never even got them out of the box but they needed to go back before they were out of the period where I could return them. Those probably ended up as refurbished.

I have a Dyson “Animal”. All is fine and good until you get frieze carpeting. Too hard to use now…the Woot! Roomba 510 has finally paid off, thanks Woot!.
